Showdown: Air Combat

Tonight on the Military Channel they will be beginning a new series called Air Combat. It is hosted by Maj “Max” Moca an F-22 pilot from Langley. He is a '95 AFA grad with thousands of flight hours. They recreate historical air battles using the aircraft and tactics employed by the pilots during the air battles.

Tonights episode is about the F86 vs Mig-15 and showcases the flying of Capt James Jabara. He was a jet Ace in the Korean war. A name you may learn in your first year for the incoming class. Like Luke and Olds he was an original BAMF in the cockpit. Worth an hour if you have the time.

sounds incredible...what time is it on?

7PM Pacific not sure in other time zones.

It is already on Comcast OnDemand if anyone has it (east coast). It was pretty interesting to watch.

I've heard that every year, the class of entering cadets chose one aviator or Air Force Officer that they dedicate thier graduation year to.

That's sort of the concept behind the Class Exemplar program.

Col. Jabara, as ds mentioned, is a USAF legend. He's commonly known as the first jet ace, and an award is given to an outstanding grad each year in his honor.
