does your sibling at harvard qualify as a legacy? or if not, is there at least some substantial extra consideration? ...would they possibly look up the sibling's records or track their progress at the school?

To be considered a legacy, I think it has to come from your mom/dad or gramps/grandma. Of course having a sibling who went to Harvard wouldn't hurt, but it isn't a big big boost. They take it into consideration with other parts of your application.

It's not the same as parents, but it's better than nothing!!! =)

No. Siblings make you a legacy at many schools. Not Harvard. I had many friends whose younger siblings got into other hypercompetitive colleges, but not Harvard.

Hmm, i have a friend with two older siblings that got in EA, and she's applying EA. She seems to think that it helps (not that she needs it...).

I have several friends at Harvard whose siblings have ALL gotten into Harvard. I really do think it helps.
