Thank you very much for the answers, sabaray and rodman! My orientation is on 27th… can’t wait!

If I have 4 requirements to fulfill (two humanities, nwp, 2nd writing), can two classes take care of all of these? In other words, can I kill 4 birds with 2 stones? If I’m not mistaken, Tibetan Buddhism and elements of Christian though should technically work.

Sounds okay to me… You can use 1 class for up to 2 requirements I believe so I don’t know why not…

I just returned from orientation (July 15-16) and I was able to sign up for all the classes I wanted except (ironically) the one that was most important to me: Biology 202. I know I have to wait until August 4th for SIS to open and sign up for it, but what is the chance that both the lecture and the lab will be open?

The enrollment for intro to programming 1110 is 105/119 (enrollment exceeding the capacity?), and 50 are on the waitlist. Is 1110 pretty much packed and sealed for the fall?

Actually 1110 is restricted in the spring. The fall is easier to take the class. The class is usually 150 students in the fall so it might just be restricted through orientation? We also had a number (~50) students drop in the spring for various reasons that might be trying to take it now in the fall which would be messing everyone up, but they really should be moved into 1111 since they would have prior programming experience.

Not sure about Bio but you can proly just course action in.

Quick Q - do a lot of people make use of the open enrollment date (it’s August 4th this year)? How difficult is it to modify one’s schedule during that time?

It’s very common, before it used to be impossible with our old login system called ISIS which would only let 50 people log in at a time. With SIS I think it is easier…

i was wondering if i should take math 1210 or 1310. i got a 2 on the AP calculus AB exam but i don’t think i’m bad at math (i’ve never gotten below an A in an advanced math class). i’ve never had that much trouble with it before but the AP exam was tricky for me. which class would you guys recommend me taking?

It depends on your future course of study – 1210/1220 is a terminal course sequence that will not satisfy prerequisites of any further math classes. Should you need something like linear algebra or calc 3 or differential equations you would not be permitted to take it at uva with 1210/1220 as your background.

thanks for letting me know. math 1310 it is then.

Did the SEAS course selection today. Everything happened so quickly since all of the classes were full (I got the left-overs).

So… on Aug. 4th, I can switch around all of my SEAS classes? Or am I stuck with my schedule? Thank you in advance.

If you can switch them around online (ie. not via bugging the profs because the classes are full and no one is switching out), yea, otherwise the seas profs won’t really be sympathetic to you switching because of times you don’t like or things like that so then you would be stuck with it… I’m sure there will be some movement, you just need to be patient. But most SEAS first semester schedules are identical so I’m not really sure what exactly is wrong with yours except times you don’t like maybe??
