Similar Schools

Hello everybody I am transfer student who is majoring in engineering. I have been looking around for schools that give really great aid. One that I have come across is Utah State University. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of schools either private or public that give decent aid to transfers.

My gpa would be between 3.5-3.6 when I apply.

I would strongly suggest that you talk to the transfer advisor at your community college.

Are you a Utah resident?

What public colleges are in your state that ifht be options? Do,any of them offer scholarships to transfer students?

@thumper1 I am a PA student. The public colleges either don’t have my engineering major or tuition is comparable to out state schools.

Then the question is how much are your parents willing to pay/borrow for college?
You need to run a couple of net price calculators to ensure that you have an affordable option.

@sybbie719 my mom has school loans herself and some for my brother education. I rather not have her acquired anymore loans and she really does not have a savings. So her contribution will be virtually zero.

I have done net price calculator but I was looking for school suggestions that I could add to my list.

Can your other parent help with college costs? What is your EFC?

What is your engineering major?

Do you qualfy for Pell grant, state aid in PA? What is your EFC?

Temple gives transfer scholarshios of $1,000-$5,000

York has Mech and seems to be the lowest cost of the in-state schools.

I am also confused, Utah State is $19,000 OOS tuition, how much aid do you think you will get?

And that’s just tuition…younwould need room and board…books, transportation, and person expenses added in as well.

How did you pay for your community college? Pell Grant and Direct Loan?

@Madison85 I live with just my mother and have no relationship with my father. So she is only parent who would be contributing. My EFC is 2096

@mommdc my engineering major is chemical engineering and I do qualify pell grant and the pa state grant

Temple does not offer chemical engineering at their school

Utah State offers very good aid for transfers even OOS transfers

I looking to see if anyone had suggestions on similar schools

@“Erin’s Dad” unfortunately they don’t offer my major

@thumper1 I received a scholarship from my community college and also I’m not worried about room and board. I am getting a job and will be saving up money for specifically that.

Room and board can cost $10,000 a year…or more. Remember too, that any money you earn has the potential,to,reduce your need based aid.

Are there any four year colleges to which you can commute…to get your degree?

@thumper1 Lafayette College would be the closest 4 year school but they also offer really good aid package for PTK members from my specific CC so I would not be commuting.

Also I plan to live off campus using the money I saved.

@Madison85 thank you I will take a look at the that post.
