Hi! I’m currently a high school senior and I am looking for a 4 year college. I am interested in going into Secondary Education and French as I want to be a French Teacher. I got into both Simmons and Mount Holyoke and I’m interested in seeing peoples’ opinions on the pros and cons for each and what your opinions on each school are and any suggestions you might have for me. I love both schools and I’m also interested in having internships while I’m in college. What’s the better school??
Even though both are Women’s colleges, I think the schools are quite different. First of all, Simmons is in the middle of Boston and Mt. Holyoke is rural. There are advantages and disadvantages to each - have you visited both schools? In my opinion, Mt. Holyoke is more academically demanding and as one of the seven sister schools, has a lofty reputation. The Mt. Holyoke curriculum is classic liberal arts, while Simmons is very well known for its pre-professional programs (social work, nursing, education). I know that Mt. Holyoke has a GREAT French department and they have great connections for internships. I would suggest going to the admitted student program at each school and trying to see where you feel more at home.
Thanks Ironmom1! And yes I’ve visited both but I will still be going to the accepted students days
