Do people attend Simons for multiple summers before they enter into any of the science competitions? I am noticing that many of those accepted this year also went last year.
@Centuries, are you sure they attended Simons before or just researched at Stony Brook in the past? I doubt any one accepted into Simons this year attended in the past since only 11th grade students are eligible to apply.
Hmm your point about eligibility is valid. I guess I’m just seeing them in the 2016 Facebook group and also on the 2015 alumni page so I’m not sure what to think.
Hey @Centuries that’s a common misconception. Some of us were Garcia scholars as sophomores who shadowed last year’s group to learn more about the program.

Huge tip is to not do the essays the night before xDDD
Accepted, but got a powerful mentor beforehand. It’s honestly more about connections/accomplishments, and not really about your essays/recs so much
