Simple Question about Recruited Athletes and "Normal" students

Hey all. Lets say that two kids apply ED to a particular Ivy League school. One is a recruited athlete who is guaranteed a spot and the other is just your eager young high school student. They both come from the same town but the athlete attends a private school nearby while the other student attends the local public school.

Will the fact that the athlete lives in the same town as the non-athlete affect the latter's chances at getting into said Ivy League school?

Bump .

No, it shouldn’t affect the other student’s chances. While geographic diversity may be a factor in admissions, colleges are more concerned with states and regions, not individual towns. Nor will the two students be compared to each other.

Like poster #3 said, the second applicant is competing for a spot in a different pool, altoghether.
