Entry #4 - April 9th, 2014 - Studying in the A.M. - {1:07 am- 4:30 am}

Reflection: It’s been a while since my last official entry but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been working hard. I received my ACT score in the mail! I definitely thought I bombed it but actually I didn’t. I barely gave it any effort (because I directed all my focus to the SAT) and even fell asleep during one of the sections and I scored a 25 Composite. I was surprised to see that that was actually higher than my SAT score (by a sprinkle) so I know for a fact I’ve come a long way. Also, My first practice test really did shed some hope that I could surpass my goal of an 1800. I ended up scoring a 650 in Critical Reading (previously a 590). This week I’ve been focusing more on Math. Admittedly, because I’m most comfortable in Math than in any other subject. If you’re thinking the time on my studying is just bogus than you’re very wrong. I fell asleep yesterday the second I got home and woke up at 1 am, so i figured I’d study until I got ready for school.

Cumulative Study Hours:
(((8 hours 25 minutes )))

hola! i think this could be helpful for me too. it’ll motivate me to study.

March SAT: 610 CR (misbubbled…) 570 Math 630 Essay: 9 Writing

I’m hoping for a 2000+ in June.

i still havent started studying… oops.

It’s only right that I end this thread with some info regarding my results. A few days ago I got my scores and I was super nervous because I knew I had bombed the essay.

Previous Score

570 CR
590 M
540 W (8 essay)

New Score

560 CR
600 M
480 W (6 essay)

Wheww! I know that writing score is cringe worthy even for my standards but there’s more! Yes my composite score dropped, my CR score dropped, and my writing score doesn’t even meet the minimum for FSU, but with that test score I just earned a free 77$ per credit hour (14 credit hours a year = $1,078 a year!!) in scholarship money! Plus, I can renew the scholarship for 5 years! How did I earn all this free money? Well. The requirement for the Florida Medallion Bright Futures Scholarship is either a 26 ACT or a 1070 (CR+M). Before I took this test I only had a 1060 and a 25…my luck huh… but since I raised my Math to a 600 I made it! I even called the Bright Futures number and asked them about my eligibility as I am an out of state resident (see my other thread for that) and they assured me that as long as I sent in the paperwork I’d receive the scholarship. Wow. Who knew the value of retaking a test. The 100$ I invested in study material and a new test resulted in as much as $5,000 dollars. Lastly, FSU and U of F both Super Score the test so my final score is a 1710, (CR 570 M 600 W 540) add in my 3.8 W School GPA and my 3.97 U of F GPA, my rigorous transcript (see my thread) and I’m not mad at my chances. Good Luck to the rest of you in your studying efforts. Even a 10 point difference counts.
