JUNE 3 - Preparation and studying thread

Ok -
it would be helpful for future users if you guyz would explain the method you approached in studying and the scores you are expecting -

and we will see how off your estimations were

enjoy the 2 last weeks!

yay its finally here(sarcasm)

well I'm studying from 5different books
For writing-Conquering SAT WRITING
FOR MATH-conquering sat math
For critical reading-conquering sat reading

For general practice- kaplan 2400

For practice test -CB blue book
cb prep booklet
cb web practice test

My estimate is a 1450/1600 and 2100/2400

and i have one question, i'm having trouble remembering some formulas, can you do sort of a cheat sheet, and take it into the testing room?

Just the blue SAT book for me. Expecting 650-700 CR, 700-750 M, and 690-780 W

And did Fsu-uf just ask if you're allowed to cheat? Heh...

what i've done is - i've taken the online course that college board offers aswell as the blue book. i've completed, but 1 test (blue book) and i plan to do a several of PR's SAT guide book.

the last couple of weeks - i should say i was on the run... i mean seriously i took 1 sat per day. Results better than i had expected...i'm getting better every test i take.

and i know for fact that the practice ones are deliberately made more complex i should say...

i would estimated 650~700 CR, 650~700 M, and 680~770 on W

Studying off the Blue Book.

Haven't started yet - starting either today or tomorrow.

Don't know how much I'll improve over April's but I will.

Estimating at least a 2250.

I took the SATs in January and got a 2070. 760 on math, 700 on reading, and 610 on writing. June will be my second try.

I'm using the blue book to study. I've only done one practice test so far. I'll probably do about three more. I'm focusing on reading and writing, because I really doubt my ability to improve my math score. My goal is a 750 on reading and 700 on writing

I think it is good to subtract a hundred points from you estimate score because there might be a hard curve or you might be too nervous on the real thing

I got a 1900 (730 CR, 580 M, 590 W) last year when I took it.

For this test I am basically just practicing out the PR book and looking through Barron's Math workbook. I am hoping to get a 2100 but anything about a 2000 I would be pretty happy.

virtuoso...how come ur math and writing scores are ...@#$# compared to ur CR - i mean CR is the most complicated section!!!

tribal -- some people find certain sections easy to understand.

I thought math was a breeze, while others think it's really hard.

agreed i got an 800 on the math and a 650 on the CR

ballz, me too :X
690 on the Writing?

Reading has always been my strong point. I love reading. :) I think I should be able to do better this time, hopefully.

The math is killing me. Hopefully doing all those practice tests will help.

I'm not so sure about my writing. Can someone help me figure this out? I got a total of 7 on the essay, and on the multiple choice I got a raw score of 38 (40 total, 9 wrong, 0 omit). Is it the essay part that is lowering my score or the MC? Or both I assume?

I got a 1940 (630/660/650) when I took in in April...I want 2100+. If I don't get that in June, then I'm switching over to ACT, because the equivalent range for 1940 is 28 for the ACT, which is in the upper end of the ACT range for NYU but 1940 is in the lower end...I DO NOT know how that works.

GRRRR I just CANNOT seem to improve!!! I keep getting 1280 M+V (as opposed to 1290 M+V I got in April) on the practice tests!!!

The SAT is definitely evil.

I thought I got a 2100, got a 1940. Goddamn.

haha nah evil 680 :(. haha close though. i gotta get that and my CR up above 700

so I'm guessing low-to mid- 2000 range if I keep doing practice tests.

i'm aiming for a 2100
God please help! you know i've been working hard! pray for me~

i've been practicing with the blue book...
i've taken 3 practices test the last three days (1/day)

and the middle results:

1190/1600
1280/1600
1340/1600

practice definitely helps!!!

I'm predicting a 600-650 math, 750-780 writing, 700-750 CR. I'm in the Princeton Review classroom course but it hasn't helped me much for math (around a 40 pt increase after 3 tests). I'll also be using one of those math workbooks, for more practice.

virtuoso- I'm pretty sure your essay score takes away from your writing score if you get lower than a 12. On my practice tests (scored by princeton review) my grammar section of the writing score is always better than the overall writing score, and I've yet to get a 12. So getting a 7 on the essay will bring down your score.

CR--couldn't care less, have a 770 so I might do random review over vocab
Math--Rework all of the blue book math sections, review the Kaplan 2400 methods
Writing--practice my essays, do blue book prompts, get second opinions.

Hold my breath and pray for the best. I'm predicting 730~800 CR, 730-770 W assuming I improve my essay (9) and my MC score doesn't go down, and 730~780 (I'll probably mess one up) on the math, assuming my practice is truly helping.
