Since being accepted, what UCLA items have you bought and worn?

qwerasdf,

I even have a Cal shirt from when I visited Cal back in the prehistoric just-admitted era. I love it.

I wanted a sweatshirt, but I couldn't afford another one...Besides, my favorite one is actually my Harvard one (grad school visit) because it's the most plush! It makes me sad (because it's not my favorite school's)...and happy because it's soft.

I thought Cal was powder blue?

Nah, it used to be true blue, not it's ucla blue (which is also referred to as a deep sky blue) so they could register it..ive been to the identity site before but didn't catch on to the name change...true blue sounds better but meh! ;)

Cal is Poser Blue I thought?

Hahaha now now.... you guys did take blue and gold from us.. same with the bear.. same with the fight song...

Wait, so what's the official logo now? I just remember my friend telling me about the unification thing (sound so commie)

Cal's blue is a deep navy blue. UCLA's blue is a lighter shade.

The official logo now lacks personality..kind of sad to see..and they spent lots of money for it.

And a just because Cal is a Golden Bear doesn't mean UCLA "took" it. UCLA's is a Bruin bear. ;) Which I believe are more fierce and carry a higher GPA, and all the other gal bears find sexier.

The official logo is what is used for business and academic applications. The sports logo remains the same script logo.

Trivia: All UCs use blue and gold as their colors, based on Yale originally. Many of the original more prominent professors, the first University President, the incumbent President in 1872, and the fathers of many of the undergraduates were Yale alumni.

Yeah it kind of sucks...would be nice for more orginality. Although I think UCLA is the real stand out from the others..seriously..most are the usual navy blue and gold.

And what's up with Irvine's mascot? Seriously, I would reconsider any school whose mascot is a stinking aardvark!

Dude ***, the official logo does suck. Whoever designed it should be deported to U$C. The sports logo is so much better. LoL Dude what's up with SB's mascot.. Gauchos??? LOL

Seriously...I try to avoide the new UCLA logo. I only want shirts/hats with the script or block lettering.

Remember, the new logo is only for business/administrative reasons, not for sports. It's a lot better than some of the old ones that were being used.

Let's see... I have bought a t-shirt, key chain and Bruin Bear:)

Meh, I still like the 'old' logo better.
As for UCLA items...only a sweatshirt...which cost me ~60 f-ing bucks cuz I had to order online...it took so much willpower to go against my ingrained Chinese cheapness =)

Ok, I can't believe u guys are talking about lame mascots and u haven't even mentioned the banana slugs of santa cruz

I figure UCSC doesn't rank because students there don't care because most of them are drunk all of the time...how is that for generalizations?! ;)

Banana Slug is pretty bad, probably the worst in the UC system, maybe in the US. Here is a link explaining the Banana Slug:

<a href="http://www.ucsc.edu/about/campus_mascot.asp%5B/url%5D">http://www.ucsc.edu/about/campus_mascot.asp</a></p>

And HERE are your 2004 - 2005 Banana Slugs... Hears Big C/Sons of Westwood play in the background umm that just sounds wrong.

Bottle opener, sweatshirt, decal, pens, notebooks, graduation diploma and the funny thing is I haven't even taken a class there yet!

Oh and gifts from fam/friends after hearing I got in:
basketball, shirts, bball shorts, baseball caps (3 total), and finally a throwback Bill Walton jersey. GO BRUINS!!!!

Doesn't Berkeley have its own TrueType font to make up for its not owning a color?

dang UCLAri beat me to it. i wanted to mention that cal's blue is based on yale blue also, and gold for golden state.

if anyone's wondering, these are the UC mascots:
UC Berkeley Golden Bears
UC Davis Aggies
UC Irvine Anteaters
UCLA Bruins
UC Merced Golden Bobcats
UC Riverside Highlanders
UC San Diego Tritons
UC Santa Barbara Gauchos
UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs

UCSF Bears?

Is it just me, or does having a highlander or a gaucho(what is that btw) as a mascot seem pretty darn cool?
...or course not as cool as a Bruin, mind you.
