Single or Double?

The dorm you're in shouldn't make or break your college experience

ho wmuch more money a single is than a double?

No singles in Donlon. Odds are you'll be in Dickson if you chose a single because that has the highest concentration of them (I THINK). I chose a single too! No worries, that's why we chose a mid-size school, lots of people to befriend!

Donlon does have singles (I should know; I'm in one), just not very many. At all.

A big negative about Donlon singles is that more or less everyone around you has a double, but a nice positive is that they're really, really big, compared to the singles in other freshman dorms (except Balch).

Sorry about the misinformation. The Cornell housing website claims that Donlon has no singles. Thanks for clearing that up, Ceramo.

^That's probably why they're bigger--they weren't meant to be!

Is it true that if you request a singles room, you'll be most likely placed in Balch?

Balch is girls only, so if you request single-sex housing and a single, then I believe the answer is yes.

I had a single for my first semester even though I requested a double. Actually, I had a double but no roommate.

The first couple weeks were horrible. I was in the anti-social Low Rises and didn't know anyone. But it was a blessing in disguise. It forced me to break out of my shell and make the effort to meet people. I made good friends and then had the luxury of a huge room.

The following semester I had a roommate. He was totally awesome and I met a lot of people through him and am still good friends with all of them.

Anybody an RA? or wants to become one? i was thinking about it. does anyone know the process of becoming one?

It would definitely suck for your social life. You apply 2nd semester of freshman year.

how's Holland ILC??? one of my best freinds was there as a freshman (but he's now moved inro an apartment)

whats the best dorm for guys???

does an RA get paid ???

RA's don't get paid they get free housing

In my opinion, Dickson and Donlon are the best dorms for guys or girls. Then again, my values differ from yours, so..best in terms of what?

best in terms of:
friendly atmosphere which'll help u adjust quickly and preferably not too many drunkards ravaging the hallways :D

hha, drunks don't ravage the hallways, Arjun, they go out. Donlon might be too loud for you, perhaps Dickson would help you adjust quickly. I don't know how you feel about having a single, though. Court and Mews are much more quiet than Dickson and Donlon are, and would be more conducive to studying. Jameson is weird, it's set up in suites. I guess it's good if you like the people in your suite. All I know about the low rises and high rises is that no one wants to be there. From what I gathered from your posts, I'd probably see you in Court or Mews. You seem pretty devoted to your school work.

oh! I love silence while studying...and have this weird habit of tellin all my chapters pretty loudly by-heart once i'm done with the numericals and all...

Wow, Arjun, you are insane ;).

i really don't want to end up in like the camp site looking dorms. do u know what dorms im referring to HiImAlcoholic?

No, I've been to camp and don't think any of my dorms resemble a camp site. Can you be more specific?
