Single parent here. Need help selecting college for my daughter

Profile asks for information on primary home equity, but as noname87 mentions above, it’s up to each school to determine how that information is used. Some Profile schools treat primary home equity the same way that FAFSA does - they completely ignore it in calculating need.

Stick around here, OP, you will learn a lot. If your daughter is a good student consider enrolling her in a SAT prep course. If she gets a very high SAT score she may be eligible for full tuition at some colleges. There are lists somewhere around here. If she doesn’t qualify for full merit you may find that in state FAFSA only schools are cheapest for you. I know my state would give about $6000 toward tuition at a state school based on your income if you lived here. They don’t count the equity in your home against you: CSS profile does.

Again:

Hi guys. I asked her about her prediction is for the SAT scores. She said the highest she could get is probably around 1900

What do you guys think

What does she think her CR and Math total will be? Most schools do not look at the writing, and I thought that was being eliminated anyway in the new SAT.

Has she had any exposure to the ACT? Some kids are much stronger on one test than the other.

Sonone above noted Fordham scholarships for NMF but those awards are competitive not guaranteed. My D, a NMSF (and likely finalist) with great ECs and a 3.94 unweighted GPA has been accepted but so far has been awarded NO merit aid … and we were gapped using the school’s net price calculator so, yeah, Fordham is kind of known for crappy aid.

Students can study for the SAT. Does she have prep books? Regular systematic study can bring scores up a lot. High test scores are the best way to open up more choices.
