Hello,
i am an international student , my GPA is almost perfect all A*
however i had some special circumstances , my father passed away few years ago , and i was wondering
will this affect my chances of being accepted ? does this fact put me at a disadvantage ?
thanks.
You might come from a culture where not having two parents is somehow a strike against you, but I can assure you that it makes no difference whatsoever here in college admissions or anything else. In fact, it could even be a factor in your favor, as Americans really love stories of people who overcome hardships and succeed in spite of them. Do not be afraid to mention what your family has gone through, and how you have managed to do so well in school despite the circumstances.
thanks mommyrocks, what about the need based universities i guess my family can contribute with some amount of money however officially we dont have a stable income source but we can provide an amount , how do i state this ? in the css or fafsa or something as such thing will probably hurt my chances in need based universities
ANYONE ???
Since you are an International applicant, you are not eligible for federal aid, so you do not fill out the FASFA.
The colleges determine what you can afford to pay not what you think you can pay. It will be based on your submitted financial information on the CSS.
