uh…yes. “I was JUST KIDDING!” When I lived in the corporate world, I learned when/who I could say something to.. There were a lot of times that I kept myself in stitches … in my mind!!!

My brother and I have very similar warped senses of humor. We can still get each other to laugh hysterically, while his wife, my husband, and my mother don’t remotely think it’s funny.

I’ll take a celebratory drink…DS finally scheduled his classes…for this fall! Last spring he “couldn’t decide” and evidently spent all summer thinking about his major(s).

So what he signed up for are some good classes but he’s deferred the problem of a requirement he doesn’t really want to fulfill. Maybe the curriculum fairy will come down and sprinkle fairy dust over his college? And whoever decides these things will awake having no memory of this kid not having taken a required class? :D

When she sprinkles the fairy dust, I hope some $$$ will float down along with it. You know, for the extra term he might need in case the memory fairies don’t work their magic on the Pre-Req Police.

Here’s a plan: invite the PreReq police over here to the Alley. We’ll bring a round to your table, mommusic. Celebratory drink for you, Memory Sapping Elixir for them. Voila! Problem solved :D.

Speaking of required courses… I have to say that nothing looked more sweet to my eyes than the notice from S#2’s university asking if he’d like to accept Year Two of his massive scholarship (for which he required a 3.0 GPA to qualify beyond Year One). After first semester, it was nowhere near a given than he’d pull it out (they evaluate at year’s end), but he re-took second semester the required course which he failed first semester and aced it – not too hard to do when you have your materials from a previous instance of the course, I’d guess. And then pulled all As and Bs in his other classes, in part because he avoided his Bad News roommates by sleeping on couches and floors in the dorm rooms of friends to avoid all manners of partying that occurred in his assigned suite. So while he didn’t get much use out of his bed, he did manage to keep his scholarship.

I keep taking out that paper and re-reading it, sort of like pinching myself in the eyes.

Alright-- how much more can we take. Older s lost is very expensive, new, prescription sunglasses at a waterpark today and got home to discover he’d been burglarized. Did I mention he’d tried to get renters insurance but ws turned down by the first co (USAA) because they arent writing it in FL except for active duty officers right now? Sigh…

Oh, jym, I came in to the Alley on this page, read LIMOM’s two comments and put them together, and my thought was, “OH, NO! Did jym’s son somehow lose his scholarship?!?” So, putting it in that context, even the loss of expensive sunglasses isn’t quite so bad.

In fact, I think not losing a scholarship calls for a celebration of some sort… kind of like my little sis who was stopped for speeding last week but not given a ticket - she figured she had just “saved” $110, so she treated herself to a new pair of shoes.

Well, lots to shop for to replace the stuff that was stolen…
Lets start with chocolate and a cup of coffee before heading out the door..

Did I mention my dad fell again yesterday and was taken to the ER?? (He’s ok, just bruised). Oh, and did I also mention that right in the middle of ds#2s surgery last Thursday we had a bad storm and the power went out

Oh, and I sent a Thank you gift of expensive cookies to the parent of a friend of my s’s- only to find out from him that they are out of town for 2 weeks!!! We went down to retrieve the package after UPS showed it was delivered (last Thurs after the storm and his surgery)… not there. Hoping a neighbor is getting their mail and packages…

Mootie-- glad your news is happier. Congrats!

ReneeV-- As far as I know, DS hasn’t done anything to jeopardize his scholarship… yet. But our luck isn’t going so well these days… Hopefully all will be well on that front.

Goodness, Jym, you’ve had your share of grief recently, haven’t you?

Surely you had enough chocolate yesterday to fortify you for awhile? Nice to know it was for a good reason! Not all of us can say that. <oops, i=“” broke=“” our=“” vow=“” of=“” secrecy=“” -=“” sorry=“”></oops,>

Haha…S1, he of the original upside down sleep schedule, is now working daylight hours and says he sleeps midnight to 8 a.m.! I find this amusing.

He says it’s no biggie to sleep through a lecture, but his company doesn’t want him to be a zombie on the job. Good thinking. :)
