Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

Thanks everyone. :)

Bumping up from page 3!

Drinks are on the house. Here's to the brave & tireless fire fighters.

I have just recently posted my 300th comment outside the Cafe and have now become a Member of CC! At first, I was afraid that due to my inattention, I had reached this milestone rather ignominiously, with a post on a DadII thread. But--whew!--it turned out that one was post #301. So, this round's on me.

Congrats, QuantMech!

I figure I'll reach 1000 about the time S graduates from HS. Then I can relax and spend my days in Sinner's Alley. Where the points don't matter and everyone's a winner. ;)

passing along this recipe for those cranberry lovers out there... Happy Thanksgiving and drink up!

Crancello

1 pound fresh (or frozen) cranberries
Sliced and scraped peel of 1/2 orang
Sliced and scraped peel of 1/4 lemon
1 1/2 cups sugar syrup* (Boil 2 cups sugar and 1 cup water together.)
1 1/2 cups 100 proof vodka

Wash berries and coarsley chop in blender or food processor. Add all ingredients to the alcohol. Steep 4 weeks in glass container in a cool, dark area....like a garage or shed. I put a paper bag over the jar to keep it somewhat dark.

Strain and filter. If more sweetener is required add more simple syrup to taste and mature another week.

(Note: I guess if the sweetness is correct after 4 weeks you can just serve it then. Also, if its too sweet just add more vodka!)

bumping by peeps up from page 4!!!

Hope that everyone is ok and glab to hear that SB and the gang are safe and sound.

A toast in memory of crabbylady's DH. So unbelievably tragic. (see her thread)

Yes, jym. Too much madness out there. What a horrible thing for her and her girls to have to grapple with.

(insert bad word here)

ivoryk -- steep 4 weeks? Hmm-m-m, guess I won't be drinking a Crancello this Thanksgiving.

Yes, a toast to crabbylady's H. So overwhelmingly tragic and senseless.

blinker -- the person who sent me the recipe said to load up on cranberries while they're available around this time of year. You can drink year-round, no?

You can drink year-round, no?

LOL! Of course! And it looks as if there are cranberries a-plenty this year. A couple of years ago the crop was really small, and when I went to get a couple of bags to make cranberry bread for Christmas, they were all gone.

Okay, anyone else putting on their battle gear to goto costco today?? of course it is pouring rain!

I plan to stay away from the Mall and all related places for the next 6 weeks. Or at least only visit during the off-hours of 10 to 11 a.m. :D

In good news, pour me a crantini or something! S who is home from college just happened to remember to mention.......that he got a JOB for next semester working for a professor! Something in his computer & number-crunching field. And there may be a published paper out of it eventually! Yay! :) :) :)

Congrats mommusic ( & S)!! Don't you love how kids just happen to remember stuff like that? D casually mentioned she lined up summer research with a prof, and oh, by the way, she can apply for (& will most likely get) a fairly generous stipend.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!

^^^

I need to learn to hug and strangle at the same time!

mafool - that is a classic line. One I plan to steal :D.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Just made the cranberry-orange relish. Perhaps it would be enhanced by a jigger of vodka?

I'd lean more towards dark rum.

^^ Entirely more holiday festive.

I'm thinking Grand Marnier (sp?) with that relish.

Added Apple Jack Brandy--Yum!!

Hope everyone had a great Holiday!
