Just dropped off one boy downtown to take Megabus home. The other one caught his ride earlier today. Just like that, we're back to 2 adults & a HS boy.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Went out to dinner for the day, first time since I used to go to my grandmother's from college and she and I would go alone to the Longmeadow Country Club and have elderly women in white dresses serve us turkey and peas on a plate:).

Have to say, this time around, come Saturday, I was mighty happy not to have to go hunt for the perfect brussel sprouts and whatever arcane ingredient we dreamed up this year. Not to say avoiding that whole picking up a salty wet turkey thing....

Thanksgiving is all about the thanks. I'm saying thanks for fancy restaurants that give extra dessert to five year old nieces.

We had turkey for two for the first time in 30 years.....time to throw away the last of the leftovers. I just talked to both Ds - one en route home to CO from grandma's in AZ, and the other getting ready to head back to PA from roomie's home in NJ. It's less than three weeks till younger D comes home for the holidays - yay!

And my house is all decorated! I don't really like doing it, but I do like having it done.

We went to a nice Christmas market yesterday, taking the train so we could enjoy all the gluhwein we wanted. It's that time of year, so let's have a round for all!

Going out to dinner is an attractive option, but what about leftovers? I am as thankful for not having to cook for several days after as I am for the original meal!

I made sure to make enough stuffing outside the bird this year so it would last longer. And plenty of gravy! I made turkey noodle soup with the carcase, and still froze some leftover meat for a rainy day.

I can think of several things that belong in eggnog, but cilantro isn't one of them! Is that some sort of new gourmet touch that I wouldn't know about?

It's a reference to post number something or other in the Alley. I didn't use to like cilantro. Oddly, something has changed. I like it now. I expect soon to start voting Republican, wearing cheap shoes, and loving Sudoku.

Some things are acquired tastes. The first time I tasted papaya, black olives, and cilantro, (not together of course!) I thought they were all weird and beyond eating.

Alu--I would try to find other things to like. Sudoku is harmless, but cheap shoes? You'll ruin your feet! :D

Alu, what about Harlequin Romances? You could get into them.

I LOVE EGGNOG. Use it for french toast; really decadent.

TSFS and I are in a parallel universe: courting the institutions that cannot be named. So I need an urn of eggnog, liberally laced with brandy. I'll be back in Dec. :)

We're trying to fine-tune our kitchen redesign, and H and I keep going round and round with measurements & decisions. Down to just a few problem spots now, but they are problems! My head is spinning.

I think I tried thinking too hard too early in the a.m.

Go ahead, a shot in the coffee might just do the trick, I personally am partial to Baileys. I never drank more coffee then when I was building new house particularly when focusing on kitchen. the alcohol definitely came out when discussing kitchen with H, he had a particular opinion about where microwave went, and he ended up being right, damn HATE when that happens!!

I expect I'll change my mind several times on the knobs & pulls. I really have no opinion on them yet. Other than being in favor of them... :) I know someone who never got any b/c she couldn't decide. The doors & drawers open just fine.

When work starts in 6 weeks or so I expect I'll be back here lamenting life without the most important room in the house. Aiiiiiii!
