Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

all can join in! The Mom, nice to have company at the bar!! Must be mimosa time!

I am sooo willing to join you all! I can’t take much more of this…can we do this repeatedly from receipt of Ivy decisions to award letter arrivals?

I personally have no intention of leaving this stool until I hear “mom I am going to …”
Waiting for todays mail! ( although it is not high on the list ) an acceptance would be nice, just to break the waitlist trend of the weekend. But then there is tomorrow

ok I am back again…it’s past noon! move over 4Giggles!

I always like to wait until the sun is over the yardarm, so to speak, before indulging in either drinks or sweet treats.

But I can fully understand if some of ya’ll need mimosas these mornings. ;)

And hopefully you will be able to enjoy a celebratory champagne soon–any time of day is ok for that!

One of the great things about a virtual bar is that it is in a virtual time zone. The sun is always over the yardarm here!

slaps forehead

Thanks mafool–I forgot!

yes and you can always reset your systems clock if need be!

oh! Momasita would love the company, left briefly to go intercept the mail for D. Knew i should nt have left my seat, we can add another waitlist to the pile!! Good thing she decided she really didn’t want to go there. But we now have 4 waitlists! Crazy year for applications.

I think I will have a shot of tequila, then maybe I can curl up in a booth and take a little nap. anyone care to join me?

So S1, grad school applicant, has made his decision. S2, hs senior, announced his decision last week. I can now relax/breathe. They will be only 2 1/2 hours apart from each other, and 8+ from home. I can see the empty nest already.

“EN” (new CC term) don’t go there…I surprised myself when I started crying yesterday to my last in nest as I described an idea that would make an excellent graduation speech…someone turn up the music…is that Jimmy Buffet?
giggles sorry about waitlist-better than denial (at least psychologically)

April Fools’ Day–I didn’t remember to do anything drastic to my S but as he was leaving I did tell him the bus would be coming from the other direction due to road construction. I wonder if all the kids waited on the other side of the street, or only him? :D

nice, mommusic! subtle and elegant!

Did anyone else hear All Things Considered on NPR yesterday? Very funny and well done segment on bogus letters criticizing a non-existent story on “Dry land whale farms” in Illinois. It carried through to today, where the correspondents read actual letters from people who were taken in and were very upset about the “whale harvest.” :D

H almost booked the $99 flight to Mars through Expedia last night  He was so sad that it was just a joke :)

Pulling my folks up from page 4.

I really need a drink after hanging out on the hobnob with snobs thread.

Good to be someplace where everybody knows my name (and lets me in anyway).

Make mine a double…

My city of Pittsburgh is still recovering from the killing of three policemen over the weekend. We are a small town masquerading as a big city.

As a toddler, my D played at a friends house a block from where the officers were killed.

A friend around the corner is related to one of the slain officers.

My wife picked up our car from our local repair shop just after he found out that his friend, one of the other officers, had beed shot dead. Our repairman and friend was despondent. The officer was just 29 years old.

Take a minute and hug all your family and friends for me.

Cheers.

It’s Happy Hour somewhere, right? Bring it on – just received email from D (doing study abroad and currently in So. Africa) that she and some friends are going shark diving this weekend.

Shark diving? Have all the drinks you can handle. I needed to pop over for a quick one before returning to the “train wreck”!

I’m guessing it’s Happy Hour in South Africa right about now
Sure hope her guardian angel is on retainer!
