45_years–I laughed! Good one!

You may have noticed on CC we do have threads chock-full of unsubstantiated opinion and ad hominem arguments, but as long as you stay in the Alley you should be ok.

Welcome!

(And thanks for the note re the kitchen. It actually did come out even better than we hoped, and just in time for the event this weekend!)

45_years, welcome and you are right this is the best place on cc!! you will be tempted to venture to the other places and threads on this site, dare I even say it “elections and politics” this will most likely happen during your addiction phase to cc (trust me I know)

Try to restrain yourself, or you will find yourself actually talking at your computer and this I have been told is not pretty, but thankfully I have moved on. It was probably the around the time D got accepted to school. If all else fails we will send the marmots to rescue you!

Hello all. D. just graduated from Princeton on Tuesday. Marmots were in attendance in spirit. One down one to go. Drinks are on me. Lots of them. Lots and lots.

Congrats to Alumother’s daughter!

We’re working on getting son’s driver’s license before his learner’s expires on July 14. Since he’s out of school he’s driving me everywhere on errands. What fun.

Yesterday we practiced the “maneuverability test” which in this state means going forward and backwards between orange cones.

This is child #4…when I think of the hours I spent helping them learn to drive…I need a drink.

yay alummom’s daughter. congrats.

Congrats to Aludaughter. I still remember the ice cread while we waiting out the admissions decisions (gosh the time has flown). Shame that mean old motarboard had to hold down all of that beautiful red hair. IS she coming back west or have you lost her to the east coast/

Congrats to all of the class of 2009

Rescuing from page…um, can’t count that high.

It’s summer, and we’re all outside enjoying the weather?

Or we’re sharing news with Facebook friends instead? raises hand

Oh, don’t I wish! Although it was a gorgeous day for S’s graduation party on Saturday, it seems like it’s been raining every day since! We’re headed to the beach, and I’d really like to see some sunshine!

Rainy days are the best for places like King’s Island, 6 Flags…keeps the crowds down and you don’t get sunburned!

I actually have been trying to get S ready for engineering summer camp–it’s for 3 weeks and it’s like going away for college. As I remarked to him.

And if this is any indication of the future, he will do his packing for college the night before. :D

mommusic: a lot of them do just that  which is how a certain bright engineering student left his calculator at home.
(and the mothers get more gray hair)

Hiya! Happy graduation to all of this year’s grads & their parents!

so come on slugg – there must be some graduation stories to tell – or some stories of some sort!! we’re bored here!!!

I agree ivory-- we want slugg stories!

Our graduation festivities start this evening with senior awards, they don’t tell you what you are getting, just whether or not you need to show up. so we will see.

D hates to shop, went to lord and Taylor put 17 dresses in changing room she swooped in tried, made all kinds of nice (sarcasm) comments found one and swooped out leaving me to find shoes! bought 5 options!! I am a little nervous for all this college shopping, I am already exhausted!

Oh and I still don’t have a dress!

Pulling up from page 3…

4Giggles, how did it go?

Back in the Midwest, having seen & smelt the ocean! Lovely.

Funny: we were sitting in friends’ liv rm, overlooking a small cove on Cape Ann, (enjoying our G & Ts) when a very nice schooner came by, loaded with tourists. Two masts, full sail, very picturesque. It fired a CANNON shot (blanks I assume!) towards the shore, then turned and sailed away. What the? :D

There be pirates!

We’ve got cause for celebration in our household. DH got tenure. So here’s some bubbly all around!

OOO>–[

Congrats, mathmom!!!

Congrats and nice pictorial representation!

Just stopped in for a drink. I’m smiling ear to ear. Just received an email from DS, he’s made it safely to Japan. He hasn’t figured out how to get on the internet at the company housing where he’s living (this may be a good thing - maybe he’ll go out exploring Tokyo rather than sitting in front of his computer chatting with friends and playing online games during his off time). His email was from a new email address at the Japanese firm he’s working for this summer. So glad to know he’s made it safely to Japan and through the streets of Tokyo to find his way to work.

Congrats to all the new grads & to mathmom’s DH.
