Pulling my people up froma couple of pages back and wishing all of the moms and mr. moms a happy mother’s day. Cheers!

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a happy day yesterday. I heard from all of my faraway kids, even the taciturn, uncommunicative one. ;)

I’m looking forward to the end of our liv rm redo this week. Carpenter comes to finish up a few things and painter will do the ceiling & walls and baseboards. By Wednesday evening we should be moving furniture back into the room it belongs in! Not to mention tons of books and music.

I’ll be celebrating with a quiet glass of chardonnay.

Baccalaureat was yesterday, graduation tomorrow, after which my baby boy will be a degreed mechanical engineer. Our son orchestrated plans and secured reservations for dinner every night we are in town! Wow. I think he has grown up.

It is hot here in North Carolina; a mojito for me, and drinks for all my friends here in the Alley!

A round on me, guys…SIL (who just got his PhD) accepted a job offer! My D & grandbaby won’t be living on the street! ;)

:)

Yay! Congrats everyone!

Congrats to mommusic’s D, SIL, and GB. Not living on the street is AWESOME! I know Bud Ice is crap, but that’s what the missus bought at the grocery store, so…bottoms up.

mantori,
If your Bud Ice is in cans, put it to better use in a Beer Can Chicken

I’ll tell you what we had at drinky time today…I was making fruit salad for dinner, and realized we had both fresh pineapple AND genuine Brazilian rum in the house.

I thought the pineapple would be wasted in a salad, so I macerated some to mix with juice, ice, and rum. My son (home from college) thought it was funny to see his mom in a party mood.

It is indeed in cans. Watch your back, Mr. Chicken! Literally!

DH is coming home from a golf weekend and I’m breaking open a bottle of chardonnay. I can’t drink red wine and we’re out of beer! When he gets home, I’ll ask him, “So, what’s for dinner??” and hopefully he’ll take me out! :)

!!Happy Dance!!
Our son is home for a week before heading out to his new job.

I just reviewed with him his health care and other options at the new company. It’s all new to him; I’m so glad he asked for my perspective. I feel a bit superfluous these days.

I’m sitting on our porch with a glass of sauvignon blanc and the fragrance of late blooming lilacs. It is quite warm, but there is a pleasant breeze, and the birds are busily singing and chirping.

Who wants to join me? There is plenty of room and more wine in the fridge.

*To successfully navigating the college app/selection process!
*To loving the school that was chosen!
*To graduating in 4 years!
*To having a JOB upon graduation!

Wow. So much to toast. I may need to over-imbibe!

congrats, mommusic!

D1 is home from college. We just shopped for 2 days (Sat and Sun). This is the first time we’ve had all four of us in the same house. We are going out for some Asian food, which I haven’t had for 2 weeks. I think that’s good enough reason for some bubbly, and it’s 5:50pm.

What is wrong with you kids? You don’t need a reason to drink! LOL…
Why don’t we drink champagne every day? Probably too much $$$…

We tried some “Toasted Lager” from Long Island the other night, $9.99/six pack…OUCH…

congrats, mommusic!

Okay, I’ve got a weird issue going on, and I could use a little CC-style parental support. My son, just graduated from high school yesterday, is having his girlfriend overnight, with my and my wife’s blessing.

So my son is sleeping with me in my queen-sized bed, and my wife is sleeping with my daughter, and my son’s girlfriend is sleeping alone in the living room…but it’s still a kind of coming-of-age milestone from my perspective.

Which means I could use a drink. Who’s buying?

(The good news: We watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail…and she liked it! He could do a lot worse!)

lol mantori. I’ll buy you a drink. What did your wife think? Congratulations on the graduation!

This pretty much sums up how I feel today and I am looking forward to some witch’s brew!

Women are Angels…And when someone breaks our wings…We simply continue to fly…on a broomstick…We are flexible like that…

LOL! Thanks for my new motto! :D

mafool,

Does he have a GF?
