Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

We just had a long talk about it today. We agree that she’s a nice girl, but that she has annoying teenager habits. Can you imagine? So I guess we’ll have more to talk—er, gossip—about now that our son is seriously dating someone. But, hey, whatever keeps the fire burning!

LOL, LongPrime, he does.

Bumping us up to pg. 1!

I’m in here cause last child is graduating this weekend and I am unexpectedly, weirdly, TORN. Empty nest! Last child :frowning:

No more early mornings! No more packed lunches! Pretty soon he won’t need me anymore! And I won’t need CC!

Bring me an interesting drink to distract me.

OK, mommusic-- SA buds to the rescue. I found a yummy looking drink calle a “Pink Frost” with strawberries and white chocolate liqueur and dark rum, but for some reason it won’t let me cut/paste and its in a blog (drink of the week) so just type in either 'drink of the week" or “pink Frost” and it should come up. What time should we be over for drinks? This may be too fru-fru for the SA bartenders :)

Oh-- and there are plenty of placves on cc for us empty-nesters. We are her – no need to be lonely! And you can make my breakfast or lunch anytime.

Sounds good! I’m up for anything with dark rum in it. ;)

I’m up for any drink today. It’s been a long week - I woke up everyday thinking it was Friday!

I have bad news for you…IT WAS.

[Cue “squee-squee-squee” noise from innumerable cheesy horror movies.]

Ok-- have the bartenders started celebrating the long weekend early by doubling the drinks alcohol content, or is this for real??

(watch the video)

Looks real to me but I’m pretty gullible…

I saw a terrible movie I need a sweet drink, please!

I hope it wasn’t Sex in the City 2, greenery! Some friends and I aere planning to see it!

Why do I have a feeling I’m going to regret posting on this thread???

For the most part of my adult life, I’ve not been much of a drinker (we won’t mention what my college life was like). Over the past six years or so, I had been working a lot of weekends, on call, and was not able to drink. Of course, the weekends are when most social occasions are happening, so I’ve really gotten to be known as the lady who no one has seen drunk.

I’m not working weekends any longer, so in the past couple of months I’ve sort of let loose a bit; it began when we were vacationing in Key West with friends. I’ve always, always, always loved a good lime margarita, preferably frozen. My daughter was so much looking forward to seeing me get drunk at my 50th birthday party last month, but the drinks were so watered down that I had to resort to asking for an extra tequila shot with each margarita.

Last weekend, when D2 arrived home for the summer, we met up with a group of friends for karaoke night at a bar (many of our kids are performers) and I had three margaritas. Everyone was shocked! I had to have D2 drive me home! Both last night and tonight I’ve had a frozen margarita (we get the On The Border buckets). And summer is just starting… I guess I have a lot of catching up to do. But it sure is nice not having to worry about work anymore on the weekends.

So I’m serving up the margaritas for the summer. Salt or not?

teri - any chance you are serving glogg or some other hot adult beverage? It is frakkin’ 50 degrees outside, and I could hardly see the road when DD and I went to the Outlets today!

sorry BB; D1 made a wonderful one when home at Thanksgiving; in fact it was the most complicated adult hot beverage I’ve ever seen made, and involved ingredients that I had to call around to find (she found the recipe in some gourmet magazine). But I can’t remember what the heck was all in it. Got great reviews at the party we took it to, though.

teriwitt, I’ll take mine without salt, and thank you very much!

Tomorrow is the last day that our newly-minted college grad will be home before leaving for a new job in yet another state.

I’ll be back on Tuesday for drinks: part celebration (this is what is supposed to happen, right?) and part angst (my baby boy will be gone!)

OK. I’m really not that dramatic, but I admit to mixed feelings.

Yumm!! I’ll take mine with salt, teriwtt!! Here’s to making up for lost time, kids with jobs, kids who sing, kids who will drink with their parents, and seeing Sex in the City (it was stupid, but I am still glad I saw it)There were 8 of us who went together. We were probably 85% of the audience. Seriously.

[* quote] "I hope it wasn’t Sex in the City 2, greenery! Some friends and I aere planning to see it! " [*/quote]

Lilmom…that was the movie and it is terrible, sorry!

Go to see Robin Hood, I heard it is better.

I love Margaritas with salt too.

What did I do wrong with the
[quotes]
? It didn’t work…

You don’t need the asterisks.

Can I please join in… just for today? I promise I’ll be quiet. Is there a post count minimum to get past the velvet rope?
I’ll take mine on the rocks, heavy on the salt… make it a double. Ugggg!!!
