Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

Drinks for everyone!!!
DS#1 starts his new job next week…and…its in the metro area here!!! He is coming home!!! (well sorta-- he got an apt on the other side of town). Should I be offended by the fact that the apt complex has a gated entrance/security??? Think he picked it for that reason?? No surprise visits :D

LongPrime, my mom used to flip out when she saw someone wear hair curlers out in public. She wouldn’t even walk to the mailbox with her hair in curlers and raised me never to do it either. Now I feel the same way when I see girls out in public in their pajamas - to me it’s the new hair-in-curlers-in-public, since girls don’t roll their hair anymore … leaning back and taking a sip of my vodka and sweet tea …

^I feel the same way about bra straps showing! Some things are just hard for us old folks to get used to…

Edit: I totally get the sweet tea with vodka. Last week I had tea, lemonade, & a splash of vodka. Wonderful! Of course, we were drinking with a Russian. He put vodka in anything and everything. :)

I’m still waiting for summer to arrive here. The sun is trying to hard to peak through the marine layer! So, this poses a dilemma, cold or hot drink? What the heck - a blended margarita. It’s gotta be hot somewhere!

Congrats jym!

DH made me a mojito yesterday that made my cold feel better. :)

That makes up for him not knowing what body wash is (is it like soap?)
So much for buying the Old Spice body wash to surprise him with (yes, I like the way it smells and I LOVE the ads.) Maybe I’ll give it to my father instead.

“Hello, ladies, look at your man, now back to me, now back at your man, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me…" :D

Bump…

A round on me (whatever you like at this hour) to celebrate. Yesterday my DH said those words every woman loves to hear…“You’re right.”

It was in public, too. :)

WOW!

(10 char)

mommusic…can your DH teach those words to my DH???

LOL…stunning, isn’t it?

I hope some day to hear my kids say it. “You were right all along, Mom.”

I should live so long. :D

Two trips to HD with DH over the weekend to buy a can of paint and some painting supplies. Did anyone notice that “HD” is “DH” backwards? :)

Two hours painting until the mosquito attacks got really vicious. Two large cans of Sapporo gone - I only got a sip. It was a busy weekend.

Bulletin!!! I have already heard those words from our son, but it was more along the lines of:
You were right; why didn’t you push me harder to do what you wanted me to do?

(It’s still my fault… )

I meant to come in last night for a celebratory drink, but never made it…

DS who is now on the 5 year plan for college actually has a PLAN for finishing…signed up for classes, knows what he has to do to be successful, and get this–he has discovered there is a “WRITING CENTER” on campus to help kids with their papers!

forehead smack

It seems he has finished the courses in his major, but still has to take a few pesky humanities requirements.

Save me a bottle of something good…I’ll be back tonight to drink it. This is both celebratory and hopeful. And to dull the pain of that forehead smack. :D

Pulling this up from the abyss…

DD finally got her room assignment! Whoo-hoo! A nice single. She sent me a picture of the view from her room. My reaction? “OMG, can I move in with you?” when I was in college, the best view from my dorm room I ever had was some trees behind the dumpsters  DH took a look at the picture and said, “This is definitely worth 50 grand a year!”

Please, a wine spritzer for me. I need something that’ll calm me down but not knock me out as I help S pack. He’s finally “concerned” about his upcoming departure and has started packing. Essentials? Yes, they’re ready to go, TV, computer, guitar and monster amp.

Drink up, lilmom, and read this thread from a few years back. You are in good company http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/548296-when-will-he-start-pack.html?

*** btw- I have packed my first box of “stuff he forgot this year” which included the contents of an entire suitcase (not sending ti all-- no way) and his brand new suit! It is sitting on the counter to go to fedex later today

I’m offering drinks this time. S1 has a job offer from his summer internship. The only bad thing? He’ll be making more than I have ever made. Grrr…

So what’s your pleasure? Maybe I can get our teetotaler to pay for the drinks!

mathmom, since you’re buying, I’ll have a mojito! Congrats to your S!

jym, thanks for the link. S managed to take the posters off his wall to pack up. I have a feeling his dorm room will look EXACTLY like his bedroom here at home. lol

Congrats, mathmom!! Thats WONDERFUL!! We want details!

mathmom–definitely charge this round to the newly employed mathson!

Big congrats to mathson!!!
