size of mattresses in Freshman dorms?

Hi! Our son will be attending U of R in the fall. Can anyone tell me what size the mattresses are?

X-long twin.

99% of the college dorms in the country are XL Twin. There are quite a few places to shop for them, we have found Target is a good stop (the ones they sell in the “dorm packages” in the mailer you may get are kind of scratchy from our one experience of ordering them).

Thanks all. Do you know if there is anything else we need to be purchasing? That is, other than the obvious: laptop, printer, towels…

Here is the infamous CC “A-Z list” that is useful. Some of it is dates (from 2005), but still a great starting point of things to consider:

I can, by the way, speak for the need for the various first aid kit items. :frowning: D2 has had a variety of needs this year (cut that got infected, insect stings, upset stomach, etc.). Inevitably these occurred when the health center was closed. Wish I had packed her a thermometer so she could check her temperature, plan to send one back with her at the end of the summer. But bandages, benedryl, and antibiotic cream have gotten a workout this year.

Especially for U of R: They are very picky about electrical. Look for power strips with an on off switch with as long a cord on it as possible. They will not allow regular extension cords. We were able to get one from Target with a 6 foot cord.

You don’t need all the stuff they mention, but it includes things that are provided and things that are forbidden.
