Size over Talent

So I've been dancing since the third grade...and every since it's been my LIFE. I haven't been like other girls an done modern or ballet but I have done nothing but Hip-Hop and show chior. I've always been good at Hip-Hop dance even been in my towns local paper for it but the 'problem' is that I'm plus size also I have a large bust so will this affect me wanting to be a dance major Please help me!

It looks like there is another thread on a similar topic at:

talk.collegeconfidential.com/dance-major/1619654-do-dance-programs-look-for-a-particular-body-type.html

you might want to check that out. From that thread, it sounds like body type might be an issue at some schools, less so at others. One thing to keep in mind though is that you will need to look carefully into each school’s program - many dance programs tend to be either modern or ballet based rather than hip hop or jazz. Hip hop is becoming more popular, and some schools are starting to offer some classes I think, but the foundation of most programs is going to be either ballet or modern. I know Pace offers a commercial dance major, which might be closer to what you are looking for, and I think Oklahoma City is somewhat less traditional as well. Perhaps others can chime in with some other school ideas. And of course there are lots of non-audition programs out there too! Good luck!
