same. It will really depend on the Financial Awards for need in mid Jan. May have to cut it from the list though. Shame because it is her #1.

My D was admitted!

Test Optional
3.79 uw
OOS
ECs showed her passion and had many leadership positions
No AP, just Honors (she was battling an illness so AP would have been too much)
Merit aid of $18K (thankful for that since she had no APs, but not enough to make it a possibility…will wait for FA and see)

Same here we are OOS
Need quite a bit more but very grateful for the offer. Can someone clarify what other fin aid offers come in Jan? Is this federal money or school grants based on EFC? Our son will take the max $5500 stafford loan.
Sorry this is my first time around the college admissions process.

Not an expert, but I’ve been through it once already. When FA comes in (as long as you filled out your FAFSA), it might include grants (which are based on need and don’t need to be repaid). It may also include work study money which is not a guarantee and doesn’t come off the bottom line because it’s given to the student as a paycheck if they get a work study job. That money won’t help you pay the tuition bill, because you don’t get it until the student works, but it still counts as FA. Then you will see the $5500 broken down into a subsidized amount and unsubsidized amount. That’s all I’ve ever seen on a FA statement.

S accepted. $21.5k merit money.

Oh yes fafsa is in but our efc is way higher than what we can truly afford.
I so want SJU to be a contender but he is getting amazing offers from other schools so this will be a tough school get in the mix without more $$$

Congratulations! That is great news!

In with presidential 28k! Think there is still room for negotiating merit? Looking to close that tuition gap a bit more.
Also invited to apply to honors program. Will they give additional merit for that as well?

Our son got 18K we need quite a bit more to make it work… we will most likely kindly ask for more and show his rigorous senior year course load etc… I’d like to keep SJU in the running but 18K is not enough:( maybe an additional grant will come in financial aid in a few weeks!!! Fingers crossed!
