My daughter has been accepted to both Skidmore and Bard. THRILLED! Living in Europe past 12 years attending international schools with students from 50+ countries. She has strong N.Y.C ties. She is interested in film photography theatre as well as general liberal arts. She plays volleyball, is fun loving and outgoing, is not wildly intellectual and feels that Skidmore seems to be more of a "normal" type of school vs. Bard which espouses an elitist arts focus that I worry may intimidate/alienate her. I also get the feeling that Bard is less supportive, and more competitive and demanding. I also sense that Bard has more of an international student body where she might fit in better in certain ways. ANY ADVICE MOST WELCOME !
THanks

The kids on the Bard facebook group for accepted students seem to be pretty down to earth (artsy/intellectual? Hell yes. But down to earth nonethless).

I have heard good things about the international community, which is about 15% (quite a bit in a school of barely 2000).
