I have learned that if I go to U of Tulsa, I'll be able to skip freshman year and enter as a sophmore (thanks to the IB program. Aheh). I was wondering if it is wise to skip freshman year. I mean, would there be some down side? I hear from IB kids that freshman year is a breeze after going through the IB, but that's what I've /heard/ and I don't know what they say about soph.

well, i think the main down side is you're going to miss out on an extra year's worth of the college experience. plus, there might not be a lot of wiggle room for you to experience different courses before working on completing the requirements for your major.

i think if you qualify, it's an amazing opportunity!

I totally agree with impactangel! If you know the material, then why are you wasting your time retaking classes you already took? I think if you want to experience "the full college experience" then don't take a full courseload, or leave every year to have an easy class, or a class you ACTUALLY want to take! I recommend taking something that you normally couldn't take, due to major contraints.

I'm in Enid. Go Oklahoma w00t

I will have between 40 and 60 credit hours from AP's and I plan on not skipping a year, but doing a BA/MA program and maybe even a second major. The main thing that all the AP's (or IB's for you) will do is get rid of those stupid 'general education,' 'perspective' 'divisional studies(we're wierd at Boston U)' (or whatever your school calls them) requirements that you would have hated and would bring down your gpa.
For example, My requirements at BU are 2 Math classes, 2 Nat Science, 2 Humanities and 2 Social Science, +Foreign Language and 2 Writing classes(unless you test out of 1 at orientation). I only have to take Writing and Foreign language, all my others are met. So I will be able to pursue that BA/MA in four years.
