Sleeping in

damn i slept in today

I put my cell phone on my bed and I had the volume up to the highest and I still didn't hear it. I hope there is a name for this! :) The great thing I guess is that I only have one 8am class on Monday's, and the rest are at 10:00 and 12:30, which is fabulous, but I also work at the school and sometimes I'll need to go in during the morning before my classes which means I need to wake up early.
i'm usually getting to bed from 10:00pm to 12:00am..ish. My parents go to bed around 11:00 or 12:00 and I'll usually go to bed when they go.

studies have shown that sleeping in regular time intervals night after night will get you up at the same time everyday. Sleeping extra on weekends can actually make you feel tired (this always happens to me if I sleep in) so don't. Nowadays, I always set my alarm but I often wake up 5 minutes before it goes off. Biological clocks are tough to beat.

Quit whining and get up.

Seriously...grow up. I know it's tough, we all struggle. But it usually boils down to just being a big baby and not wanting to get up.

polter93157 - I tried your method that you mentioned in an earlier post here. I said to myself, "I will wake up at 6:45" at least 15 times. Today I woke up at 7:00. Heck, as long as it's not like 10:00 that I wake up, I'm good to go! :) Thanks!

maybe you can set your cell phone on vibrate?? ;) You are probably not on any type of sleep schedule and not getting enough sleep, period. I know my son missed an 8 am class last semester when he hit the "off" button instead of the "snooze" and didn't wake up until 11.

How did you get up for high school?? Did your parents wake you?

How about setting 3 alarms? One (the loudest) goes on your pillow beside your ear. The other two are across the room so you have to get up.

When I get to school in the morning if I have some free time I'll normally try to get in an extra 15 minutes of sleep in my car. In order to wake back up I'll set the alarm on my cell phone and stick it under my chin. You'd be amazed at how fast it'll wake you up. The only problem would be holding it there all night!

Hehe. I guess I agree with you, minus the harsh life-coach tone :p
As a night-person, getting up is hard to do... and what makes it worse is that you sometimes don't want to. I'm used to being woken up by other people.

If you can't get up in the morning, schedule later classes, and hope you learn to get up by the time you get a a real job.

I can also find if I "have to be up" at a certain time, I will wake up before that time, or sometimes, soon after it has passed, which isn't as good.

A surprisingly large (like 4) number of people slept through the fire alarm when it went off Sunday morning at 6:30. The fire alarm is quite loud.

I've heard it can be better to schedule early classes - although there is a chance you'll sleep in and miss a few, you'll be training yourself to wake up early and when you have to.

But wow soccerguy. Sleeping through firealarm is pretty dangerous!

I bet 4 of those 4 people that didn't wake up drank a lot saturday night because those things are LOUD and annoying as hell

I have trouble getting up, and I've tried the alarm clock across the room...I just end up back in bed always. This may sound weird, but if you are busty, try wearing a sports bra to bed and putting your cellphone in your cleavage. lol, i hear it works.

lol I missed another class last week again...this has to end.

lol hibi - that is definitely the most creative wake-up method I've heard of!

I sleep through alarms too. I'd rather have someone wake me up if possible. Or the stereo thing works for me.

allena: that's me in a nutshell ;)

Hm, I second the "getting enough sleep" idea, even if you have to go to bed ridiculously early. Set your alarm. Also if you have anyone on your floor (are you in a dorm?) who's in the same classes as you have them come wake you up (all the people here who are in morning calculus hold each other accountable for getting up for it).

If none of these work, well, don't put any morning classes into your schedule ;)

My first semester freshman year I had Calc I 5 days a week at 8 in the morning! So needless to say I am definitely not a whiner. But I have now realized that I am a huge advocate of sleeping in. I still have one 8 oclock class and it is a whopper (8-noon chem lab) but still having only 1 compared to 5 is nice.

Since I'm a complete genius I scheduled my classes to where I have a 9am on
m/w/f and a 8:30am on t/th...I could kick myself for this one since I'm a night person and a very heavy sleeper. I set 2 alarms on my cell or the loudest setting with the most annoying ringtone and another alarm for extra reinforcement. Both alarms go on my desk right next to my bed. I tried placing them across the room but I didn't hear them!!!

Last semester, my roomate was a really heavy sleeper. Sometimes we would lift his bed during the night and move it into the common room.
