Please comment on the environment at Sloan, and how it compares to the science and engineering departments. Is the school more laid back or more competitive, easier/harder, more personal / less personal, etc, etc. Any insights or comments would be greatly appreciated?

bump please...

I think there are really two different groups of students at Sloan: the ones who want to be there (and who came to MIT to major in management), and the ones who started off in a technical department and decided that they hated it, or that they couldn't hack it, or whatever.

The first group, in my understanding, is more competitive -- wearing suits to class and such. The second group is generally much more laid-back, since they're not particularly invested in Sloan in the first place.

Sloan is generally considered by the MIT student body to be much easier than an engineering or science major.

Thank you very much, Mollie.
