SLS Invitation

Thanks for the test score advice everyone.
But now I have one more question before I can submit my app. for the SLS.
In the "school sports" section, are you supposed to just anticipate your senior year info? For example, I've been in varsity XC for the past 3 years, and barring anything crazy happening will also be varsity next year. Should I put 3 or 4 varsity years down? I was also a captain this year, and will most likely be one next year but obviously I can't know for sure. I have similar issues with wrestling and track.

Stick with you have accomplished to date. Everyone is in the same boat. My son fully expects to run XC and track next year but did not include those. Likewise, he did not list NHS because induction won't occur until next month. The applications form says something about estimating GPA and class rank if you don't know those but I suspect they want 'actual' for everything else. If you feel this short changes you, there is a remarks section on the form where I suppose you could add such information.

Thanks aprouddad for your advice. Good luck to your son as well. Yeah, we'll be checking our nomination sources website time to time for application dates! For now and has been, my S is sure USMA is for him and says he has his reasons for it. Getting a free education is not one of them. He recently had an offer to start a top college's honors program in his senior year with scholarships (his high school was willing to give him an honorary diploma at the end of Jr year) but he refused.

As far as sports, it's his third year playing varsity baseball (1yr captain) and plays club baseball whenever he can (he has a weekend job). He did X-country but had to quit because his other EC's and schedule conflict prevented him from continuing. I can see why team sport is important in the military.

I personally think that the application process for ivy league is easier than service academies! These kids have to be really committed to go through this. My S knows we'll help & support him any way we can but in the end it's his decision.

When I applied for SLS last year, an admissions rep told me to include everything anticipated for junior year (basically spring sports).
