Small Business Saturday is here!
Will you shop your local small businesses today?
I’m planning to shop at my local independent bookstore in a bit (it’s also their first anniversary party) as well as a local children’s bookstore.

Our small town has Small Business Saturday Sip and Shop all over town! Our local business council and the businesses got this going.
We are heading out soon! It’s a lot of fun, and we got quite a few nice holiday gifts last year.

Can you share what they do? Are there specials in the restaurants as well as in the stores? Do they have entertainers, food trucks or special booths?
Yes. In one of our neat older factory buildings there will be holiday live music all day long. There are the merchants that are housed there plus at least 20 additional ones. Two food trucks, and beverages. Wine tasting as well. Most merchants have a discount today.
Our brewery on the other end of town is having the bookend to this. At least 30 vendors, two food trucks, and again, discounts if you buy at the event.
All of our local eateries have a special of some sort.
It’s a townwide event publicized in neighboring towns as well. Lots of people come! It’s just fun.
Every merchant in town is participating in some way. It’s like the kickoff to our holiday season. Our town has an event for next three weekends…it’s just so much fun.

We have it in our town, but methinks the snow will keep folks away.
No in person Black Friday shopping for me! But happy to go out for Small Business Saturday.

We just got back fro the small business Saturday townwide events here! Amazing. It’s beautiful cold weather, but clear skies. LOTS of people were everywhere, and buying what seemed to be lots of things. We saw some things we like and will get, but we also know they will still be there after this weekend.
We also saw a new living room loveseat we probably are going to order! I’m excited about that!

I’m not shopping myself, but it’s being promoted in our little downtown. Tempting though! There are a lot of unique little shops, some of which are reminiscent of my college hippie days.
Ocean Beach
The Ocean Beach MainStreet Association is hosting a scavenger hunt bingo game where shoppers will need to find parrot images at select businesses to win gift cards and prizes. The Ocean Beach MainStreet Association’s annual Small Business Saturday celebration will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The association will also have a booth in front of the OB Mall where shoppers can submit receipts of $50 or more spent at Ocean Beach businesses for a chance to win gift cards. Booth visitors can also enter to win a holiday basket.
