As to walk-ins at unifieds, many of the schools' general admission deadlines will be past. So, any school you plan to walk-in to, you should have already met their general admission deadline.

That's not true. A lot of the schools' deadlines will not have passed. Otherwise, there would be no point in having walk-ins. This was actually for acting, but I personally know people who have in the past walked in for Ithaca and Purchase at the Unifieds and their deadlines are February 1.

I'd suggest Point Park. I believe they accept transfers and that it is not too late to apply and schedule an audition.

I also seem to remember SUNY Fredonia having a late audition, but I'm not familiar with the application deadlines there.

i think the accurate point would be........that's not entirely true. It is certainly true that many deadlines have passed. Several were December or January 31. Some definitely have not. And that was my point......that several will have passed by the time you go to unifieds, but they haven't yet. So.....look into them now so that you can get in before the deadline. And perhaps, even those schools with past deadlines will work with you. If you've already missed the deadline, you could call and see if they will take a walk-in and make an exception on the deadline date. Perhaps they will. If you haven't, then get their app in asap. It could be that they still have appointments open and you can pursue that. Then, when you get there, if there are walk-ins available, and not all schools do, then you can pursue that as well. But, as I said, several schools do not cut off til later this year so you still have a lot of opportunity. I know Otterbein is still open and University of Oklahoma and possibly Penn State for transfer. As I said, I'll check my list for others. But, it is definitely not too late to get going and make some real progress.

I just want to leave another quick note of encouragment for Maggie, and to reiterate what vocaldad said- this thread embodies what I love about this forum- helpful, intelligent people that just want to see all of us succeed.

one thing i've learned is to call the school regarding any deadlines or other information that is posted on the website. Often, that is general info, but not necessarily set in stone. I found a couple of deadlines to be very flexible. It's really not that late. I hesitate to just start posting about schools without knowing what you're interested in. But, if you care to post any schools of interest, I'll post what I might know. There should still be several schools you could pursue. And, I, too, wish you well. We have been close enough to where you are.

i'm just on a quick break from my work with the piano restoration company i work for, so i have to make this brief -- but really, i'm touched at the amount everyone is willing to contribute and help :)

Oklahoma City University does accept MT transfer students. If you submit soon you can still be considered for Fall 2006. You can audition in person or by video. We even have a specific Admisions Counselor to assist transfer students. Give Janele Warlick a call at 1-800-633-7242.

ocu - thanks so much!! i'll definitely give her a call later today.

again, the amount of help is amazing...CC is so great!

Sporti - It appears that you go to Ithaca College from something I saw on another thread. Is there a reason you are wanting to transfer? I know you are an undeclared major. It might be helpful for you to share how you feel about the college and also how you might feel if you were in the MT major there. Would it change how you feel? Thanks!

i don't really want to go into a whole lot of detail on the public forum (if you want to hear more specific stuff, PM me), but ithaca just really isn't the right school for me. without going into too-personal reasons, i'm from vermont, so being in ithaca is pretty much like being home. i feel like i need a different environment to become a more well-rounded person.

also, the academics aren't challenging at all. for me, i need to be really challenged somehow - whether it be academically or artistically. ithaca hasn't challenged me academically (though i'm sure it would challenge me artistically if i were in the MT program).

honestly, i don't know if my opinion about the school would change if i were in the MT program. i might be able to "suck it up" and deal with it because i would be doing something i love, but i think the school and the town would still seem a little stifling.

that said, i have a lot of friends who love ithaca. they love the location, the small size, etc. it's just not the right school for me.

again, if you want to PM me for more specific detail, that's fine.
