I have no idea when they start sending the letters. I am not a fan of the college waiting game…

Emerson sends decisions by about April 1, as do MANY colleges. They are not rolling. Nobody has heard yet and likely won't hear for a couple of weeks yet.

i want to hear too! IM DYING!!!

this is kind of old news, but did everyone get that little "thank you for your audition; we appreciate your time and talent" email after their audition?

it was just that one sentence, so i'm assuming it was a default message sent to everyone. I'm not reading into that as good or bad news, i was just curious when looking through old mail.

yes Florida - as I recall within minutes - I think it was auto generated from their computer system after the audition was recorded in the system.

I wanted to reply to it, but then decided against it

haha

= )

Just out of curiosity: Does anyone know if you can still be accepted into the college, but not for the musical theatre department? Or if you are rejected from MT, are you automatically rejected from the entire college?

Yes, you can be accepted to the college and not the BFA. Actually, that happened to my daughter after an initial EA deferral for the BFA but an acceptance in EA to the college.

To follow up, if you indicated on your application a second choice major, if you are rejected for MT (but otherwise accepted academically for the college), the rejection letter will also offer you an admission in your second choice major.

Thanks for mentioning that Michael.

Also, to follow up, let me say my D indicated NO second choice major and had NO interest in attending the college without the BFA and still got accepted to the college without the BFA (though at the time of her acceptance, she was in the deferral pile for the BFA), and so that can happen too.

Just covering all scenarios here! :)

I spoke with the admissions office yesterday. The indicated that the decisions have been made and that they will be mailing letters at the end of this week (3/28). So, another week on pins and needles!

I heard that they were starting to send them out today!

OMG i'm freaking out now!! Yet slightly excited!!

Soozievt - Another scenario --->
Or as in D's case deferred EA from both school and the BFA/M/T - yes, we called to clarify as the letter was strangely worded (no interest in pursuing another major as in your D's case). ;-)

I am confused about Emerson deferral process. I auditioned and was deferred back in November. I did indicate a second choice major which might have been a mistake but I wasn't totally sure what route I wanted to take at the time. My mt audition did go well but now I am wondering I could have already been rejected for musical theatre but was just deferred from the actual college? Very confusing. Any help would be appreciated. Are there any Emerson mt out there who got in after being deferred? It's such a popular school!

My D's pal here in our little town, was accepted into the college like my D was in the EA round but deferred for the BFA in MT program at the time, exactly like my daughter. D's pal was then accepted in the RD round for the BFA in MT (my D was not). So, yes, you can be accepted to the BFA in the RD round after being deferred in the EA round for the program.

Interesting tidbits that provide insight into what this process is like.....same friend only applied to two schools....both for a BFA in MT....Emerson and NYU/Tisch. She was denied ED to Tisch and now attends Emerson. My D was accepted to Tisch but denied at Emerson (for the BFA itself). This is a common sort of thing to have happen! (by the way, this had nothing to do with academics as the girl was a straight A student and was the salutatorian) Also, same friend, has since switched out of the BFA in MT into a BA track at Emerson as her interests have shifted and are related but are not MT specifically. Again, this also happens.

Just heard today -- D accepted into MT BFA at Emerson!

Dramama,
whooo hooo! congratulations! was it regular mail or email? Excellent day for CC family!

Now i'm getting nervous lol! CONGRATS though!

I got in today for BFA acting
I heard that they're sending letters over the course of a few days so don't be too nervous lol!!
