The Smith Orchestra/Chorus concert at Carnegie Hall was fabulous. We saw the same breath-taking program (featuring Beethoven's 9th Symphony) days earlier at the college but were blown away by differences in execution and sound. Of course, Carnegie acoustics is magical, whether you are in the audience or on stage. And then, too, you didn't have the drama of the college concert with the delayed arrival of the U.of Michigan men's chorus, when their bus pulled in just an hour or so before curtain time.

Good house audience at Carnegie, gathered for a Smith celebration. Our NYC friends attended with us and ran into many colleagues whom they discovered for first time were Smith alums.

I filled my camera with video clips and ran out of memory for stills, so would like to find anyone who could share photos.

I haven't talked to my D yet but her uncle called after the concert last night to report that it was wonderful. I'm sure the second performance was better since they actually had some rehearsal time with the men's choir. It sounds like their getting to Smith was quite the adventure.
I would love to see pictures.

'Twas a wonderful experience for the Smithie performers and the enthusiastic audience. My Glee Club D loves Jonathan's conducting style. I told her to save her Carnegie Hall Artist backstage pass for her baby book.

Weather was great in NYC as well.

I'll also be attending the Glee Club's commencement concert at 12:30 on Saturday. They'll be performing the seniors' favorite pieces.

P.S. I heard theat the U Mich guys made up for their delayed arrival (caused by storms that had postponed the ferry from Nantucket). They and the Smithie girls had a blast at karaoke night at a little local spot after the Noho concert. They filled the place with their singing and dancing.
