Smith College Supplement Question

For the Smith College Supplement, under "academic information", it says:

"Summarize your high school academic program by indicating the total number of years you have studied each subject. Use 1/2 for a semester course or 1/3 for a trimester course if you did not study the subject for a full year."

Firstly, is it asking how many year you will have taken the subject when you graduate high school or how many year you have taken up to the point you submit the application? And I can only list up to 4 years but I took five years of science and a foreign language. And despite what the directions say there is not 1.5 years option...etc.

Any information is really appreciated :)

I believe they are asking how many years you will have taken the subject by the time you graduate high school. And they limit it to 4 years because most people are only in high school for 4 years. Remember, even if you started your language in middle school, they only want to know how long you have taken it in high school. If you have actually been in high school for more than 4 years, just say 4 for anything you have taken for more than 4 years.

Great thanks!

And any idea on how to do 3 semesters (1.5 years) of a subject? Round up or down?
