Hello All! Good luck with your ED/EA/RD admissions! I thought I'd start up a thread so you can see who is applying this year. I believe the decisions will be out around 12/15!

There was another thread started, but this can be the official one!

I applied EA and am still awaiting their decision. I’m super nervous for mid-December!

Good luck to everyone who applied! :)

Does SMU post the admissions decision online or do you have to wait for it to come in the mail? I applied EA and really hope to get in. I feel like I have been waiting forever.

Last year they released decisions by postal mail. Good question!

Has anyone asked the admissions dept. if decisions will be delayed since the deadline for EA/ED was extended due to the problems this year with common app?

excited…hope they’re out ASAP

I was thinking about the extension but the website still says we should know by Dec. 31st. I remember they sent home a letter saying that the admissions counsel would be meeting soon.

Hopefully we’ll know by next week. I submitted back in mid-October so it’s been awhile.

Kimberlybrooke- I only saw on their site that ED notification would be 4 -6 weeks after deadline. However, the regional admissions person met with my daughter this fall and said by end of december. Just wondered if anyone has asked for more specific information…

Does SMU offer scholarships when they offer admissions, or are scholarships announced at a later date?

Last year SMU extended their EA deadlines because of Hurricane Sandy and decisions went out starting on 12/15/12 (Saturday). Also in the past if there was a scholarship, they were offered with the admissions offer and in some cases more scholarships followed later. So based on this I would guess admission offers may come out as early as 12/14/13 (Saturday). Good luck everyone!!!

My DD received an email mid-Nov. from her regional SMU admissions rep that said they “expect to mail decisions on Dec. 13”. Hope this info is helpful.

Does SMU only mail their EA letters? Do you hear anything online or do you have to wait for the mail? And does anyone have an update - are they being mailed out today? Thanks!!!

Is it true that if you apply Early Decision (binding) instead of Early Action that you wouldn’t get as much in scholarships because you have already committed to them? Has anyone heard if they will mail out the decisions today? What date will they be sending out invitations to the Presidential Scholarship?

Thanks!

My college counselor talked to Joe Lopez (The Houston Area SMU Representative) and said that the letters would be mailed out on a Wednesday-- does any one know if they have already been sent out then?? because next wednesday is the 18th which is after the 15th (the deadline for decisions). Just wondering if anyone else has heard this and could confirm that they have been sent out!

Well, I emailed Dallas’ representative and she said they would be sent out middle of next week. Couple with the information above, it’s fairly certain they’ll be sent out next Wednesday. Cheers.

So I emailed my counselor earlier this week and she said they send all admission decisions by mail around mid-December. So that would mean they should be mailing them within the next week. I applied ED by the way!

DD applied early decision (binding). She needs to know asap to make alternate plans if she isn’t accepted. I was hoping they would have been mailed today. I wish they would post it online as well in addition to snail mail - we are not on a regular mail route and don’t always get our mail. When we do it is folded in half or creased - hopefully that won’t happen with this.

I did not receive a letter back from SMU today, which means we will most likely get them Monday-Thursday of next week.

Do they post on a blog anywhere when they will mail out decisions?

They’re hoping to mail out decisions within the next week (techincally this week) or so apparently! I applied EA, can’t wait to hear back.
