My son was accepted to both schools with the same aid package. He wants to be a Finance/Accounting major and was directly accepted to Gabelli at Fordham but did not get directly not Cox (he has to wait until after freshman year to apply). He is multi-racial but living in Los Angeles it does not matter. Not sure how he will fit in at SMU, Fordham seems more diverse. That being said I like the fuller college experience at SMU; big sports teams, greek life, nicer facilities and supposedly better food. Any comments are appreciated.
There are a lot of Californians on campus (i.e., 14% of last two entering classes). SMU is 64% white vs. 56% at Fordham. SMU is 9% Black/multi-racial vs. 8% at Fordham. Pretty similar ethnicities. I’ll guess that he’d find some fraternities to be more accepting of diversity than others, but your son sounds like a strong student who also mixes well and may be extroverted. He’ll do great on the Hilltop.
thanks, I think SMU would give him a better-rounded experience. I hope he makes up his mind soon!
