I’ve been accepted to both Southern Methodist Universtiy and also Miami of Ohio. I would like to connect sports and business, like a sports agent or something of the sort. I have been directly admitted into The Farmer School of Business but hear from Cox in April. With scholarship, SMU would be 55K a year while Miami OH would be 29K a year. I know I’ll do well at either school because I’m a hard worker, but in terms of opportunity I think Dallas outdoes Oxford, Ohio. Weather, location, campus play roles in my decision as well. Basically I want to go to SMU but it’s ridiculously expensive. Miami is also amazing and half the price. I’m stuck. Advice?
If your parents are crazy rich and have an extra $200K stuffed in a mattress, by all means choose SMU. If you are considering big student loans to help that happen, PLEASE DO NOT DO IT. The two schools are both great, and I think that you will love Miami once you are there. Dallas probably DOES outdo Oxford, but, IMNSHO, you don’t really have a choice. I want a Tesla S (it far “outdoes” my Toyota), but I can’t afford it, so my decisions on cars are simple. Your future career depends on who YOU are, not WHERE you are.
Make the right choice and don’t look back.
