So close yet so far

Case was my dream school so I opted to apply Early Action. My parents were a bit against the price tag and we were unsure of what scholarship I would get so I didn’t do Early Decision. I got some deferred program b.s. and they said I can join Case next year (with the class of 2020). I didn’t want to spend a year doing nothing (they said I couldn’t take classes at a CC), so I decided to just attend UC Davis. My question is how hard is it transfer into case from UC davis as a junior. Also, do they offer a substantial amount of scholarships to transfer just as they do to incoming freshman?

You sort of blew it by not taking Case up on their deferred option. That will be a factor if you try and transfer in. Financial aid for transfers is not as generous as it is for freshmen.

but they said that I can not take classes and transfer them. Also, if I accept the deferral option, then aren’t I committing to Case Western as a freshman next year? I dont want to waste a year. Plus the option is still open until July 17th.

UC Davis is a good school and a great value if you are in-state. Unless you come up with a great gap year, I would go there and just see how it goes.

You could call up admissions and see if they take your turning down deferred admit would really hurt you for transfer. I think with a great GPA at UCD, transfer chance is probably good.
