I'm entering college this fall and I don't have any Math AP credit. I am planning on taking "Calc 1" & "Stat for Biology Majors" this year. I heard the Calc 2 class at my school is supposed to be legendary in how difficult it is. Can I differ taking Calc 2 until spring of senior year and still apply to medical schools that require a year of calculus? I just don't want to get a C or lower in Calc 2 before I turn in my application...Thanks a lot.

calc 1 and stats should be enough for the vast majority of med schools that even have math requirements.

There do exist some schools that will want you to have finished up through Calc II. Duke and WUSTL come to mind. Beyond that, your own undergrad might well want Calc II before they let you take physics -- and that's a pretty sensible requirement.

You can. But, I'm not sure how great you'd do in Calc II after a 3 year hiatus.

There's a place on the AMCAS where you can list future courses so that schools will know if there's a requirement that you're going to finish but haven't at the time of application. That way, if you apply to any medical schools that require Calc. II (and I didn't think that Duke did, but I could be wrong), the schools will know that you're going to take it before you would begin medical school.

Admission requires at least 90 hours of approved college credit, including:

One year of college English or a university writing course
One year of inorganic chemistry/one year of inorganic chemistry lab
One year of organic chemistry/one year of organic chemistry lab
One year of physics/one year of physics lab
One year of biology or zoology/one semester of biology lab
One semester of calculus plus one semester of an additional college-level math, such as statistics

Hm. If I had my old MSAR handy, I could see if it was my memory that was faulty, or if things have changed.

What does Calc II cover? Multi-variable? Differential modeling?

No, Multivariable is Calc III.

does AP credit cover this? like if you got a 5 on ap stat or ap calc? or should you take it again in college?

You have to check with the individual school to see if they accept AP credit.
Calc AB would be Calc I.
Calc BC would be Calc I and II.
Stat would be a general Stat Class.

My understanding is that many med schools do not accept AP credit on their own to cover prerequisite classes - they would expect you to take a higher level class in the subject to satisfy the pre req. I know our State med school has the following statement about pre req classes
