I actually lost weight as well this semester, about 10 pounds. I was really proud of myself. I found just walking all over the place to classes and being to lazy to go to the Pit and get food helped a lot. I don’t really keep food in my room, which also helps because I don’t snack unnecessarily.

I gained about 6-7 pounds. Fortunately, you can’t really tell because my face hasn’t really changed, it all went to my gut and thighs LOL (which is also kind of bad). Funny thing is when I first visited home from college (3 weeks after) I checked how much I weighed and my weight was the same as when I first left for college. I was like damn college food isn’t doing anything to me, I’m soooo happy. I started to not give a damn what I ate, and 3/4 of a quarter later, I’m 6-7 pounds heavier…

I was undesirably skinny kid prior to college, I gained 20 pounds. I was happy about that. but then i lost it all. Im skinny again and its difficult to gain weight!

I used to be a figure skater, so when I first started college, I gained about four pounds (although I’ve heard of skaters gaining about 15-20), but in the last semester, I’ve pretty much stayed the same weight. This may be either because of dance or because I started skipping lunch because twice a week I had a class at 11-12:15 and then a class at 12:30-1:45 before I would run off to do something else and I don’t like eating in class because it feels rude…

I gained 9 pounds by fall break and haven’t weighed myself since, although I certainly have gained more weight. I just went off birth control and stopped being so compelled to eat dessert, however, and have already noticed a change in my body. We shall see!

I gained 20 lbs because I wanted to, but then again I lift and workout/exercise 5 days a week. I actually have a harder time gaining weight at college than at home because I can’t make my own meals and have less time to eat, so I end up losing weight/lower bodyfat.

Just a tip for you guys who spend like 2-3 hrs at the gym doing cardio/running. It’s useless to be honest… you’ll burn like what? 500 cals?. 90% of losing weight is dieting. Do not spend more than 45min at the gym doing cardio. If you want to lose weight, lower your daily calorie count.

Not entirely useless. If you burn 300 calories at a time, 3 days a week, it works out to close to 4 pounds over the course of a semester, 3 pounds per quarter. It’s not a lot, but it makes a difference over time. Plus there are other benefits to exercise. You just need to make sure that the exercise isn’t making you eat a lot more.

But yeah, if you want to lose weight fast, it’s the diet that does it.

To even lose 300 cals, you’d have to be at the gym for about 3 hrs doing cardio/running. Who has the time to be at the gym for 3 hrs? Limit your sweets and fats and you’ll be better off.

that bag of sugar you crave? cut it out

smaller servings

drink water inside of soda

There’s much more convenient and effective ways to lose weight and bodyfat than to do cardio for that much time.

Limit your consumption of fats, oils, and sweets and go to the gym for 45 min at least 3-4 times a week and you should be okay. Actually, you’ll look much much better and more attractive with a little muscle on you (which you will gain due to working out/running).

Lol you don’t have to be at the gym for 3 hours to burn 300 calories? Ever heard of the elliptical. If you’re going at a steady pace there, you can burn 600 in an hour.

In high school I was the (too) skinny girl. My first semester of college I lost 5 pounds mainly because of walking everywhere. I am a senior now - overall I have gained 15 pounds in college due to my metabolism slowing down a little, drinking a lot, and eating like crap while not exercising. But I still walk everywhere and my weight fluctuates 5 pounds depending on the season.

I actually lost 5 pounds my 1st semester of college, and as strange as it sounds I felt like it was because I was eating healthier in college than back home. Probably all that running around campus to classes and the student union helped too.
