So how intense are the accelerated language classes?

When I attempted to register for First-Year Italian I at my orientation all of them were closed! So, I opted to take the accelerated first-year Italian class. I know it will be fast paced and a lot of hard work (I'm okay with that...I like learning languages), but I fear that it will consume me. Does anyone have any pointers on how to tackle this class or have any experience?

I am friends with one of the instructors who teaches regular German and accelerated Dutch. He told me that the accelerated courses are not that bad. You go faster in what you cover grammatically but it is somewhat offset by the reduction in vocabulary which is covered. If you have any related background, such as Spanish, then I wouldn’t stress at all if I were you. If not, language courses can be a bit of a ***** anyway so just be prepared to put in regular effort and you’ll be fine.
