So, I applied to Brown ED (PLME)...

I applied to Brown as an Early Decision applicant for PLME. Do I have a chance?

Unweighted GPA (after Junior Year): 3.86 (105.075)

Rank: 6 / 534

SATs: 2260 (CR 800, M 670, W 790)

SAT IIs: Bio E 800, Math II 680

ACT: 33 Composite

ECs: Varsity Swim Team (Awards- Rookie of the Year, Most Improved)
Leaders Club Vice President
Model UN State Officer (Committee Moderator)
NHS Chairperson
National Italian Honor Society
Interact
Project Discover
Pit Band (for Drama Club Musicals)
Tutor for young children in summer school
Volunteer at Hospital (100 hrs.)
COLT State Poetry Competition
Music - cello and guitar

Academic Awards: US History Highest Average, Italian Highest Average, "Make My Day" Award, NHS, NIHS, Honor Roll

Senior year:
-AP Calc, AP Chem, AP English, AP Psych, College Course in Italian (studying the curriculum of my state university's college Italian course, which is similar to AP but without an AP Exam)
-Physics

I've taken Honors Math and Honors English throughout high school. I have fully completed one AP course, which was in Biology (scored a 5 on the AP Exam).

Chances are OKAY. But of course, PLME is extremely extremely selective. Perhaps bring up the SAT I to be more competitive? It seems that math is your weak point. Having a 680 on the Math II where a 780 is really preferable could be detrimental. But, it is a bit late in the game. Don’t get me wrong, you are a beast at the SAT, but the math is a really simple category to improve in and you seem to be intelligent

Academic awards seem skimpy because they are all local… And if the courseload has any more APs from previous years that would help. Great ACT though.

Yeah, I see what you’re saying. I’ve already applied so I don’t really see the point in retaking the SAT I. And on my ACT I got a 33 on the math so I think they might balance out?
Luckily, I got called for an interview the other day. Maybe that’ll help.
If not, hopefully I can still get into Brown! Fingers crossed!

Sure: You are competitive, but that is a very selective program, so prep your other applications and have a safety. You are certainly strong enough to have success as Brown, but all the Ivies are a bit of a crap shoot.

Haha yeah I totally agree. Good thing I have many other safeties!
