...and this dude in really dirty clothes comes up to our car while we were in traffic. He shows us a badge on his shirt that indicated that he was mute. He gave my Dad a paper that said that he wanted him to donate money ti some weird place we had never heard of. I told my Dad that it was probably a rip off and my dad motioned/told the guy that he didn't have any extra money on him (which he didn't, I had checked his wallet). But the guy still didn't leave. He took out a box of tissues and put it on the window of the car. My Dad said he ddin't have any money to pay him for the box and tried to give him the box back but the guy kept moving back and refused to take it back.
Seconds later, the light turned green and we had to move because people were already honking like maniacs. My Dad pressed against the accelerator and we left. The box of tissues fell onto the street and...out of nowhere the MUTE guy screams at the top of his lungs: "THE TISSUES!!NO!"

well, I didn't feel bad about having left the guy without any donation. It was,as I predicted, a scam.
This kind of stuff happens to me alot.

Yeah- don't give $$$ to panhandlers. There are proper places to give to the needy, the street not being one of 'em. They will tell you any ********.

if the guy didn't steal them, then I guess he thought he would have lost some money if the box was damaged. But I had a good laugh about the whole thing later.

no, he was pretending to be part of this charity organization that helps mute people who are poor..it's really weird; a charity specifically for mute people.
he wore one of their T shirts to show he was legitamate or whatever (but he probably stole it from a mute guy)

I seriously have never heard of anything like that ...

Then again, I live in a town with houses, a church, a postoffice (yeah we don't even have mailboxes) and a fire department... so I guess I am isolated a bit!
