So It... Doesn't... Matter Where I Go for Undergrad?

In which way? Our zip code supposedly comes up as rural. I’ve seen more rural places than ours, but we’re certainly not suburban or urban. Kids from my high school don’t generally get accepted to good places, but they also don’t have college confidential scores (with rare exceptions). GPAs are high, of course. (The last student I heard scores for had a 4.0 GPA and in the 900’s CR/M on the SAT. She was disappointed to have been rejected this week from her EA LAC - where the 25% SAT was near 1150.) The rare exception kids do get accepted places. I see that as correlating more with SAT than zip code, but perhaps both work together? I’m curious as to what the “joke” is…

Does my guy with high scores have a supposed advantage or disadvantage based upon our zip code? Pure curiosity here as it certainly won’t be changing anything at this point.

Your zip code says something about your income and income definitely correlates with sat score so the joke is that the zip code is a better predictor than the sat even though the zip code in theory should say nothing about your academic qualifications.

Ok, I’m with you now. In that respect, it probably works.
