so what are you guys wearing to your interview?

I just checked the website, so tell me if I understand this correctly: they only contact you if your school is part of their alumni association something? Is that correct?

I'll probably wear a collared shirt with khakis. popped collars = tools

Man, I just went with a suit and tie...and my interviewer was wearing like normal home clothes. Interview went great though, but I did feel overdressed.

How was it Kami? I'm prob gonna wear a suit, too... Unless he invites me to his home that is...

It was pretty cool. Guy was intellectual, had his personal quirks, but pretty cool, mainly asked about things that I had brought with me on my resume. Was pretty non-standard, didn't flow with popular media fuled notions about stuff, so I was impressed.

Well, technically you can never be overdressed for an interview, only underdressed. So I would specifically ask what to dress in if you're worried about looking preppy or something. I look good in suits so I figured whatever.

lol... that's awesome! I have the same reason for wearing a suit, haha... So when you talk about non-standard, you mean...? So was it more about you telling him stuff, or him telling you stuff about Yale?

I told him stuff, and then we sometimes expressed views about subjects, and he basically didn't go with the whole "pop" notions of things, so I was really impressed.

He also hated asking "standard interview questions" like "change something in the world or w/e" but said that he had to ask at least one.

Was a cool guy on the whole.

lol... that sounds pretty good. I hope my interviewer will have the whole independent-thinking thing going on, too, ^^. How long did yours last, btw?

About 45 minutes I think. Conversation went really well though, time flew. Only bad instance was when my cellphone rang...I had to shut it off quickly...I'd just put it on "vibrate then ring" the day before instead of the usual vibrate too...

I even gave the guy some satire peices I wrote. Including a non-politically correct peice where I describe how to slap girls and say that girls want to be dominated...

lol... u gotta be kidding?

I'm not.

Now let's see if I get in, because Adcom should have a copy of my article too...

So my friend was absolutely freaking out about what to wear to her Yale interview and didn't know how fancy she should dress up, so she drove her younger sister (she's a freshman, so not that little) with her to the interview about 20 minutes early and told her sister to go into the hotel and look for the interviewer (he had told her he would sit in a certain place with a Yale folder on the table or something). Then her sister could text her and tell her how nicely he was dressed up and she could change in the car accordingly.

It worked though, because she was wearing nice jeans and a nice shirt but her interviewer was wearing a suit, so she changed into a skirt or something. I know the whole idea is pretty ridiculous, but I thought it was kind of a funny/desperate way to make sure you are dressed appropriately.

yeah... ^ that won't work for me. mine's at the interviewer's house

hm... so did you write it in a humorous way? Or did you actually mean it? Cos tbh it sounds kinda harsh, ^^

Nah I wrote it in a humorous way. Of course, I was only pretending to be joking...just kidding girls are awesome.

my brother just went to his interview in jeans and a polo to a coffee place. dunno if he will be under dressed, I have the same interviewer, so I'll be fine! yay.
