I worked on Book Awards for the Wellesley Club. We divided the awards between various types of schools-- highly regarded, middle income and urban/low income. Every year, we give a book to the "worst" school in the area. Some of the top schools in our area, choose not to participate. I can't speak for Harvard, but given efforts to diversify I would expect the same. </p>
<p>And you do sound negative. My niece and nephew won book awards at their schools and were thrilled. I am glad they do not read CC to see the attitude portrayed in this thread. Very few juniors in most schools are honored in any way.</p>
