So Williams is no longer needblind for internationals...

Just read this:
Williams College Ends Need-Blind Admissions for International Students - The Ticker - The Chronicle of Higher Education

That kinda sucks for the future international applicants. There were just eight needblind universities in US, now there are just 7. Hopefully when US recovers from the aftermath of the recession Williams will pick up its needblind policy again.

There were, I think, two other threads discussing the same topic  Quite old now

frankly not surprised, especially with the recession

as an int’l applicant, I’m fortunate to have been accepted. However, i wonder, does williams meet full need of internationals, despite its being need aware in admissions?

Yes, Williams meets the full need of all accepted students.

wait… so the need-blind policy ends next year (2015) or this year? If an international student applied this year for financial aid can she/he get it? Just want to clear things up…

It ends next year-- decisions aren’t affected this year.

It’s confusing. I think need-blind for internationals was eliminated effective this year. But if admitted, they receive the same full aid as domestic students. The students just admitted still receive aid under the no-loans policy as well.

There was discussion of how unfair it was to change the need-blind policy after application fees were submitted.

Yeah, I got in even though it turned need-aware suddenly. (international student)
It’s okay, just pray to God you’re lucky and of course, have a great application :)

Hey, Iam an accepted international student too ^^ congrats to you all. I got in while asking for huge financial aids T.T Hopefully W can meet full aid for all of us ^^
All the best

Need aware for internationals - this year (starting with class of 2014)
Loans in financial aid packages - next year (starting with class of 2015)
