hmmm... my "easy A" was crazy... i was the only kid to get an A both semesters... the way my teacher graded was insane... i'm hispanic but i'm 2nd (mom) and 3rd (dad) generation... so we speak only english at home... i skipped spanish 3 (and 4, but different schools do it differently)... so i'm happy with my 4 on the ap exam... i will still get the benefits of AA :)

I wouldn't think it looks so bad. My first language, although I can hardly believe now, was in fact Spanish, but it has now been reduced to a secondary, almost arcane, language spoken to my family and anybody else who doesn't know Spanish.

Even if you're like me, it's not all that easy. I've had a completely English education, with the exception of a few early years of a special bilingual program, and suddenly skipping all Spanish classes, and going straight to AP was not easy. It's the equivalent of... forgive me for the bad example... a slave in the 1800's, who already spoke enough English so that one could call him fluent, to go into a high level class, that speaks of language like he's never heard before. Of course I had some idea, being that I had been in school, and therefore knew what was coming, but you get the idea.

Needless to say, I scored a 5.

Na-na-na-na-na.... NA!!! :)

EDIT: Tony... I admit I haven't the slightest idea of what that game is, but the translation, is "Fly Swatter".... you don't kill flies do you? That would be very, very strange, albeit fun.

Oh no you don't kill flies, the whole game is you write a set of vocabulary words on the blackboard, usually around 30, and then the teacher will give a clue and then you have to run up to the board and smack the word with the fly swatter, though I must say it was very competitive, and I remember I suffered the worst injury of a bleeding toe and a four inch bruise/cut on my hip from the chalk holder, but necessary nonetheless for the win, yeah you could say I'm terribly too competitive :D

I hate when people used to tell me, "Oh you just take Spanish for the easy A's!" In my case, it wasn't true. Don't get me wrong, I'm great at Spanish (as evidenced by the 5 and 800) but I'm always eager to learn more! I find Spanish to be a beautiful language, and I’m not content with merely what is taught at the high school level. So to prove everyone else wrong (and to satisfy my intellectual and academic curiosity), I took up Italian and French (two languages in which I'm not a native speaker). Sure, it makes it considerably easier if you already speak one Romance Language, but it's still no esay A (....ok, maybe for me they were - but I just have this natural knack for language acquisition).

I'm taking Chinese at Princeton in the fall! Haha, NOW try to tell me that I'm doing it for the easy A! :D
