Social life

I have read a number of disturbing posts re: social life at F&M (unfriendly students, nothing to do on campus but drink). And, since D is black, I am particularly concerned by what appears to be an appallingly low number of black students (2-3%, or 38-54 students which works out to no more than 13 per graduating class-- presumably 7 males and 6 females), particularly given the school's proximinty to several several major cities w/ signif black populations.

Just thought I'd investig a bit before scratching F&M off D's list.

I think my alma mater of 25+ years ago might be slightly more diverse than your stat but not by a significant amount I am afraid to report. The Lancaster community is also not particularly diverse and I think that has been an issue recruiting non-international students of color for many years. I don't think the situation is much different at other LAC's in F&M's category so you may want to consider larger or more prestigious schools if this is a key factor.

Good luck.
