Social Scence at Top Universities

I'm the type of kid that loves going out to movies, eating dinner at restaurants with friends, strolling around commericial areas with friends, seeing plays, seeing live music events, playing guitar at live music events, and random conversations with people in dorms that last until 3 in the morning. I really like conversations; I don't really care where or when or with whom. I am not a partier, and really don't like being around cliques, drugs, and alcohol. Can any of you recommend schools for someone with my social interests? Or better yet, could you speak to how well Brown, Dartmouth, Penn, Northwestern, Wash U, and Carnegie Mellon coincide with my tastes?

Thanks alot.

Sounds like you want to be near a city. Dartmouth is more rural. The other schools on your list might provide the opportunities you seek. I think more selective schools like the ones in your list would have relatively less drug and alcohol abuse, although you find these things at almost every school. You can check the IPEDS COOL website to see how much drug and alcohol related crime is reported at a school. Be sure to take school size into account when you look at crime statistics. Engineering students tend to be less social, so maybe look for places with fewer engineering students.
